I was reading an article in The Star titled Where you cannot smoke in Malaysia since Oct 1, and where you can (at the airport): A detailed list By Milad Hassandarvish (click here to The Star Online to read it).
Well the list reported by Milad Hassandarvish in the above said article is really good and it gives more info on the definition of building:
The gazette defines “area” as referring to the whole area of the premises, including any area inside the building and the surrounding area of the building which is within the borders of the fence or the land lot of the premises.
“Meanwhile, “building” is defined as any area inside a building as well as the five-foot way and any ground within three metres of the building line, and also includes the area covered by any additional permanent roof that is connected to the main building”.
What the above means is that when you are at eating/drinking at a restaurant operating for a terrace shop, you can only smoke 3 meters from the roof line, take note.
Below contents are all from the above said article:
According to the government gazette for Act 852, there are 28 areas and places categorised as non-smoking zones.

Well above areas where we cannot smoke or vape are nothing new as most stated in the list have been enforced for years; but I am glad anyway because the article reminded me where I can smoke and I have mentioned previously that even when I am flying with Malaysia Airlines on Biz Class, I will go to Plaza Premium First (at Main Terminal) for food and then to MAS Golden Lounge (at Satellite Terminal) for Liquor and the Smoking Room, haha.
Nowadays if I want to smoke I basically need to stand at the curbside beside a public road which is at least minimum 6m from a roof line (please note rood can protrude from a building line).
