I just read an article in Malay Mail titled Alamak! Malaysian loanwords ‘mat rempit’, ‘tapau’ and ‘terror’ among new additions to Oxford English Dictionary (click here to read it).

Below are the words listed in Malay Mail that have been included into Oxford Dictionary:

I remember when I was in Secondary School I had a pocket Oxford Dictionary.

It is true that Tapau is widely used in Malaysia as I used that word too. Even when I am in Australia I also say Tapau.

Well, in addition to the above words, I predict sooner or later Oxford English Dictionary will add “Shiok Sendiri” or Syok Sendiri” plus “Chiak Bui Liow” and “Pang Sai” because I do use them when I speak in English. For example, I am Pangsaing, hahaha
