If you are topping up Boost App and earning nothing (e.g. with Duit Now) you can exit this article so that you do not waste your time.
However, if you are topping up Boost App with a Credit Card then maybe this article may be beneficial to you.
If you are a Boost App user, I am sure you are aware that currently there is no fee for the first RM1K that we top up with credit card.
Well, nothing last forever.
First the Bad News
Effective 14th October 2024, a 0.75% fee will be imposed on top up with credit cards including for the first RM1K.
Refer to the image at the very top where the guy is in thinking mode….. the image is so appropriate, hahaha. Many of you would be thinking if you should top up with a credit card that earns you something (cash back or air miles) right?
Here Is the Good News
If you have not top up RM1K to your Boost this month with your credit card that earns you something you should do it now. And if you can do the same again next month before 14th October 2024.
Well effective `4th October 2024, if you have a fetish for credit cards like me where we use credit cards for all kinds of transactions, and I meant it literally, this 0.75% fee for topping up Boost App is actually very very very good compared to Tng eWallet which imposes a 1% fee for Transferable Amount!
In respect to above paragraph, please note I mentioned Transferable Amount because only a fool will top up TnG eWallet with Credit Cards for payments to Merchants or Tolls.
I tell you, Boost Management is damn smart, by imposing 0.75% fee it will definitely have tremendous effects on TnG eWallet! Not only Tng eWallet but also it will affect Big Pay too but definitely not Grab App where we can still use AMEX for Gran Food and Grab Rides without any fees.
Last but not least, never top up Boost or Tng eWallet with a Maybank or even CIMB credit cards as you will be wasting your time since you earn nothing; and even if you do use a credit card that earns you something for topping up Boost, make sure you get returns more than 0.75% or else you are stupidly burning your hard earn money and making the eWallets/banks richer.
