My New Toy – Acer Nitro 5 Ryzen 7 1TB SSD RTX3060. As Usual I Can Connect My Notebook To 2 External Monitors with HDMI and USB 3

Previously I have told you all that I bought a Nitro 5 Ryzen 7 back in May 2020 because (1) I had bought my second son a Nitro 5 prior to 2018 and it was still working fine in 2020 and (2) I was surprised that it was not hot despite my second son using it to play games non-stop. Since then my second son has bought himself newer PCs and a Lenovo Notebook with moving LED lights on the external case, real Ah Beng, haha.

Yes, the main reason why I bought the Acer Nitro 5 was because it was not hot and the reason is because it has twin cooler fans!

And then after a few months of getting my Nitro 5 in 2020, I got myself a WaVLINK USB 3 to HDMI Adapter which enable me to connect to 2 external monitors. With the WAVLINK adapter, any notebook with USB 3 will be able to connect to another external monitor.

Time passes by in a blink of an eye, it has been 4 years since I bought the Acer Nitro 5 with 512GB SSD mentioned above. It is still working perfectly except that the storage is nearing full capacity.

I did buy a 1TB SSD External Drive last year to save all my files as we never know when our computer will go kaput, Of course we can always remove the hard drive/SSD in the notebook and make it an external drive by simply buying an external casing which is damn cheap. I have so many external hard drives from my old notebooks, hahaha.

Buying My New Toy – Acer Nitro 5 AN515-46-R20B

But like I mentioned, it has been 4 years since I bought the Nitro 5 and being a kiasu person, I bought a new notebook as standby and it is another Acer Nitro 5 Ryzen 7 but this time with 1TB SSD 🙂

Like I said, I am very happy with Acer Nitro 5 as the twin fans make the notebook not hot despite having a graphic card.

I have been looking at the Nitro 5 AN515-46-R20B for weeks at Lazada and Shopee and late last month in May, Lazada was having 12% Discount Voucher and I was pleasantly surprised to know that I could use RM80 worth of Lazada Coins to offset the price too! End up I kind of saved more than RM500!!!

As you can observe above, the Nitro 5 I bought was selling for RM3,959 and I ended up paying only RM3,368.95!

As for the RM80 worth of Lazada Coins, I really do not know how I earned it but I will Check-In Daily at Lazada and play the games (Harvest Rice and occasionally Merge Boss).

I have previously published several articles that I find that I get better deals on Gadgets at Lazada compared to Shopee. I tell you, always check compare prices at Lazada and do not automatically think that Shopee is cheaper.

FYI, I mainly only use Shopee to pay bills where I can offset the amount by 25% using Shopee Coins.

Nitro 5 AN515-46 Keyboard Backlit – You Can Customize the Keyboard Color And Make It Static Or Dynamic

There are many customization options for the keyboard backlit, you can determine the color by zones (red, blue, yellow, green, white) and have them static or dynamic (also several options). For me, I prefer my keyboard to be plain white backlit.

Connecting to External Monitors

The power, USB C and HDMI are on the rear of my new Nitro 5 AN515-46. It is stated that the USB C is able to be connected to an external monitor unlike my old Nitro 5 bought in 2020 where the USB C cannot be connected to an external monitor.

However I do not have a USB C to DP cable. Anyway, I would prefer not to use the USB C port for an external display as nowadays we can use USB C for many other things, e.g. connecting to my smartphones.

So for my second external monitor, I use back my old WAVLINK USB 3 to HDMI adapter.

Once again, click here to my previous article on the WAVLINK adapter where at Page 2 I even showed the price and where I bought it from.

Last but not least, I bought McAfee from Official Store at Shopee, the 3 years subscription fee cost me about RM110 only; thus save me the hassle of renewing it yearly. I use Norton for my other Nitro 5 but Norton keep pissing me off telling me that I need to purchase their other softwares to fix this and that! Of course you can also buy anti-virus software at freaking cheap prices but most of them you are not the Admin and to me why would I want other people to control me.
