If you are a long time die hard follower of mine, you will know that I have been promoting Maybank 2 Cards Premier for years to earn FREE KrisFlyer Miles. The AMEX Reserve is fabulous to earn us KrisFlyer Miles from local spending. Even with Maybank inflating their redemption for KrisFlyer Miles not long ago, the AMEX Reserve is still the best for local spending.
And I have also reiterated over and over again that one should always play top down, i.e. redeem Suite Class and then only Business Class. If you are my long time die hard follower, you may contact me for the password to the articles below:
However, for the benefit of those of you who do not have access to the above article, the reasons why you should fly First Class or Suite Class with Singapore Airlines and not stupidly burn your KrisFlyer miles on business class are:
- Unless you are flying with Singapore Airlines newer A350 and Boeing 787, most probably you will be sleeping “senget”!
Prior to pre-covid era, I have repeated many times that those of you who have yet to experience Singapore Airlines Suite Class are a fool to burned your FREE Kris Flyer Air Miles (converted from Maybank Treats Points) on Business Class tickets where you need to sleep “senget” unless you get the Bulk Head seats.
I tell you, Singapore Airlines Business Class is a joke because you need to sleep “senget” on the Airbus A380, older Airbus A350 and Boeing 777. However with Singapore Airlines newer Airbus A350-900, you do get to sleep straight.
And AirAsia Flat Bed can be damn cheap so I wonder why people want to “buy” KrisFlyer Miles to redeem Biz Class tickets, i.e. they not flying for FREE!!! As for Europe Biz Class, better use Enrich Points and fly with Malaysia Airlines where we are guaranteed to sleep straight for 12 hours instead of sleeping “senget” with Singapore Airlines Biz Class, hahaha.
2. We can afford a Biz Class ticket but I doubt many of us are willing to fork up from our own pocket for a Suite Class (which is beyond first class) ticket.
If you have yet to experience Singapore Airlines Suite Class, you better redeem now! Singapore Airlines and other Frequent Flyer Program (FFP) will inflate their points to redeem tickets AND also credit card issuers will also inflate their redemption program.
With inflation and weakening Ringgit (which means credit card issuers need to pay more for air miles from airlines), soon we will earn less air mile with every Ringgit spent with our credit cards and may only end up flying Economy Class for FREE!
3. More and more airlines are only allowing those with Gold or Platinum status (people who actually pay for flights) are allowed to redeem for First Class tickets!
So once again, Bros & Sis, you better listen to me and redeem Singapore Airlines Suite Class asap – if you are calculative (or maybe even kedekut where you can afford to pay) where you want to redeem FREE Biz Class tickets for your other family members instead of you redeeming a Suite Class to experience it! The point is this, many people are one track mind and think that they must also redeem Suite Class for others who are traveling with them! You go redeem Suite Class for yourself and Economy/Biz Class for others who are traveling with you!!! And many people will tell me that their spouse will be pissed off with them if they do not travel together on Suite Class – well, that spouse is really selfish considering they did nothing and basically a parasite, hahaha. Your spouse should be happy that you get to experience Suite Class and he/she grateful that you are willing to burn your air miles on a Biz Class ticket for her/him.
STAR ALLIANCE
Below are some (not all) of the airlines under the Star Alliance umbrella.
You can use your KrisFlyer Miles to redeem for other airlines’ tickets under the Star Alliance umbrella.
All you need to do is basically log in to your KrisFlyer Account and select destination and then tap on Star Alliance at the Menu. It is really easy, just go play play after you log in to your KrisFlyer account and soon you be an expert on redeeming Star Alliance tickets.
For example, My Air Miles Disciple redeemed an ANA First Class “The Suite” on Boeing 777-300ER Tokyo to New York May 2023. For his wife, she was blesses with ANA Biz Class “The Room” on the same flight.
You can also earn KrisFlyer Miles when you are flying with other airlines under the Star Allaince umbrella.
There are 3 ways where you can earn KrisFlyer Miles with Star Alliance airlines.
Method No.1 – enter your KrisFlyer Account under Manage Booking.
Say you are flying with Turkish Airlines:
Step 1 – Go to Turkish Airlines website and under Manage Booking enter your Reservation/Booking Number or E-Ticket Number and your surname.
Once you have done the above, you can then edit/add the Frequent Flyer Program.
Method No.2 – when checking in at the airport counter, pass your KrisFlyer Account number (write it down in a piece of paper) to the person manning the counter together with your passport and remember to tell the person to add your KrisFlyer account.
Recently my wife and I flew return KL to Europe with Turkish Airlines on paid Economy Class tickets. When checking in at KLIA and also in Europe, I pass to the person manning the check in counter at the airport our KrisFlyer Account Numbers written on a piece of paper (this piece pf paper is always in my Travelon Anti-Theft sling bag which I will take whenever I go overseas).
Upon returning home, I checked my KrisFlyer Account and the miles have been credited… close to 6K KF Miles 🙂
Below are some photos which I took in Sicily where I visited an active Volcano site amongst the many UNESCO Heritage sites!

Method 3 – you still can claim KrisFlyer Miles if you forgotten to do the above 2 methods. But I recommend that you use Method 1 and 2 above so you have less hassle.
Log in to your KrisFlyer Account and at the menu tap on Miles and then Claim Missing Miles.

Enrich Points
You can also earn Enrich Points when you fly with other airlines under the One World umbrella (please note it is different from Star Alliance). However many people have told me that their Enrich Points were not credited and had to follow up many times,
You can also use your Enrich Points to redeem flight with other Airlines under the One World umbrella and even Emirates. However it is not as convenient as Asia Miles where we can redeem the tickets online.
And I am pleased to report that Enrich Saver is back (2nd November 2023) which means we now need less Enrich Points direct KL to London on Biz Class compared to wasting time transiting at Changi and sleep senget to London on Singapore Airlines Business Class, hahaha.
