UOB Credit Card UNIRinggit Redemption May Earn You RM5 Cash Back For Every Redemption of RM50 TnG eWallet Reload Pin

Most of you would have received an SMS from UOB on UNIRM redemption for RM50 TnG eWallet Reload Pin. To read the full TnC, please go to UOB Malaysia official website and SEARCH using the code stated in the SMS for the promo.

It is good that I receive the SMS today (20th June 2025) as the promo starts tomorrow (21st June 2025) until 30th June 2025. BUT as usual you need to read the TnC, and you will note that there is a cap on the Cash Back and it is first come first serve basis. In addition you must redeem a specific redemption not the one below:

Below are parts of the promo when I search at UOB website:

So it is imperative that you redeem “OFFER: RM50 TNG EWALLET RELOAD PIN + RM5 CASH BACK“.

Is the promo any good? Well for those who are pure Cash Back fans maybe they may be excited but not me!

Based on the current RM50 TnG eWallet Reload Pin, we need 40K UNIRinggit.

Well, if you have the UOB Privilege Banking Visa Infinite, you will earn 1X UNIRM and 10X UNIRM for every RM1 spent Locally and Overseas respectively.

So in order to earn 40K UNIRM, one who holds the UOB PB VI will need to spend RM40K and RM4K Locally and Overseas respectively. This means one will earn cash back of minimum 0.1375% (RM55/RM40K x 100%) to maximum 1.375%…… WTF!

Assuming I have 400K UNIRM, with the cash back promo mentioned above, I can earn up to RM550.

But 400K UNIRM can also enable one who holds a UOB PB VI to redeem for 40K Air Miles! For those with UOB VI, then one can redeem 33.33K Air Miles).

In order to redeem a one-way Singapore Airlines Business Class with Saver Option, one only needs 34K KrisFlyer Miles to HK or Taiwan and 43K KrisFlyer Miles to Shanghai or Beijing.

So you tell me, which is a better deal? Spend RM40K Overseas with UOB PB VI or UOB VI to earn a one-way Biz Class ticket (to HK or Taiwan) or redeem the promo and get RM550?
