Where To Buy and Sell Physical Silver and Paper Silver in Malaysia

INTRODUCTION

If you are a long time follower of mine, you may remember that in my article, Investment Wealth Retirement 1st Edition, published about a decade ago, I mentioned about investing in gold besides many other things. In this particular article, I showed you that the price of gold was RM5,526 per oz in 2016.

Well, Gold hit a new All Time High (ATH) of RM21K per oz in January 2026 – that’s close to 4X or 400% from the 2016 price!!! Today, mid August 2026, Gold is trading at just below RM18K per oz.

Also back in February 2025, I published an article titled How And Where To Buy Gold And FREE Gold From Your Credit Card Transactions (click here to read it), when Gold was trading around RM13K per oz. So between Feb 2025 to Jan 2026, the price of gold increased about 60%!!!!

Oh as usual I need to tell you, I am not a Financial Consultant/Advisor and I am not telling you to buy or sell gold or any of your assets BUT I’m merely recounting my past experience/observations and what was history. If I know the price of gold in the future, then I am God!

Having said the above, all of us know (if you do not then you better go educate yourself) that Fiat Currency (including our Ringgit) is not backed by anything but us putting our trust…..(in the unlikely event we experience hyper inflation where RM10K won’t even buy us a loaf of bread, then I guess we cannot say it was a scam but we were stupid enough to trust someone we do not know, haha) …. go look at your RM50 note and tell me if you know who is the person who signed the RM50 note and do you trust him? Google Cambodia Prince Bank + BNM Governor to educate yourself on world events.

What I understand from YouTubers (yeah, yeah, you may say not a reliable source but heck they are sharing for FREE), it is not that Gold has increased in value but in actual fact the Fiat Currencies have lost its value! Get it?

I will give you an example, back in 1982, a BMW 5 Series cost less than RM45K and a gram of gold cost less than RM30/g. That means we can get the BMW 5 Series with 1.5Kg of Gold. TODAY 1.5Kg of Gold is worth 1.5kg x RM550K = RM825K where we can buy at least 2 BMW 5 series and still have spare change to add accessories.

Now, what if I were to deposit the RM45K with a Financial Institution that pays 6% interest per year (yeah, yeah, I know, in 1998 the interest rate was damn high, but it was for a short period only). So I used a spreadsheet and it showed me that I will have RM412K in 2026. Well from RM45K to RM412K is good I suppose. BUT WAIT, we still can only buy 1 BMW 5 Series with RM412K. On the other hand, 1.5kg worth of Gold today will be worth RM825K, which is double compared to if you have deposited it into a bank that pays 6% interest!!!

Gold and Silver

Ever since ancient times, gold and silver were money. Even before Jesus was born, the Bible Old Testament mentioned Gold and Silver!!! The Romans used Silver as money and if you are a fan of Chinese Ancient Dramas you will know that Gold and Silver ingots were money!

The other day I had a video gathering with some of My Air Miles Disciples and someone said that it is not our Chinese custom to buy gold – well I told him he was wrong! Do you remember when you were a baby, your aunties would share among themselves to buy you gold anklet(s) for your full moon celebration!

Let me tell you a story – when I visited Cuba last year, I was shocked that there was a Chinatown in Cuba! You see, after slavery was banned in Cuba, the Chinese went there to work in the sugar cane plantations (to produce Rum) because they were paid in GOLD! To us Chinese, Gold and Silver is money, it was and always will be. The Central Bank of China has been constantly buying gold every month. Malaysia for the first time since 2018 bought Gold this year (but only 3 tons in January 2026 when the price was near ATH)!!!

I told those who were in my Project Gold to buy gold and to give them as wedding gifts during tea ceremonies and birthdays, and if they listened to me, the gold that they have gifted is now worth much more than an Ang Pow with Fiat Currency which has lost its value due to inflation.

Silver on the other hand is known as poor man’s gold…. but all the same it is money. Since 1980s, the price of Gold, Copper and other rare materials have increased by 4X but not Silver (?) So it only makes sense that the price of Silver should play catch up and go up 4X too right? Once again I am not a financial Consultant/Advisor and I’m not telling you to buy or sell Silver but just pointing out a fact based on history.

For Gold, we can practically walk into any major Gold Jewellery store to sell our gold, for example – Poh Kong and Habib.

Let me tell you a story. My mum gave my second son a necklace to wear with his 22K Gold Dragon Pendant that I bought for him BUT the necklace broke. The necklace did not look like real gold to my wife and I. Anyway, we went to our local gold smith and showed him the necklace and he said it was 18K gold and was worth about RM1K. Since my son had a new gold necklace, we decided to trade in the broken 18K necklace and I got a shock when the gold smith gave me RM1,900 for it (because he initially said it was worth about RM1K)!!!

However, in Malaysia, buying and selling physical Silver is not as common/easy as buying and selling gold. So in this article I will share with you my thoughts on Buying and Selling Silver in Malaysia:
