In my article titled The Best Top Credit Cards in Malaysia 2025 (click here to read it) at Page 5, I mentioned that the UOB Visa Infinite and UOB PRVI Miles Elite are the best non-exclusive credit cards for overseas transactions.
At the same Page 5 mentioned above, there were also links to UOB Credit Card Reviews; and from these said reviews, you would have learned that the UOB Visa Infinite is excellent for Local Dining where we can earn 5X UniRinggit with either the UOB Visa Infinite or UOB Privilege Banking Visa Infinite.
However, when redeeming for air miles, the UOB Privilege Banking Visa Infinite need 20% less UNIRinggit compared to the non-exclusive UOB Visa Infinite.
Based on the above rates, below is how much we need to spend to earn 1 KrisFlyer Mile or 1 Asia Miles:
UOB Privilege Banking Visa Infinite – 1 KF or 1 AM for every RM2 spent locally on dining; and
UOB Visa Infinite – 1 KF or 1 AM for every RM2.40 spent locally on dining.
However, in order to earn air miles based on the spending rates mentioned above, the card member needs to transact minimum RM1K per calendar month on dining.
Below is part of UOB Visa Infinite TnC:
From the above, generally it means the 5X UNIRinggit is only eligible for face to face transactions, i.e. you pay at the restaurant which can also include Fast Food.
If you are still blur, what the above means is that Grab Food and orders via online are not entitled to the 5X UNIRinggit.
In respect to the above said paragraph, I have reiterated over and over again that for Grab Rides and Grab Food use your Maybank AMEX as Payment Method. Never ever top up any eWallet including Grab Wallet with Maybank AMEX cards as you will earn nothing.
So if you do spend RM1K per month on dining at places that do not accept AMEX, you should seriously consider the UOB PB VI or UOB VI.
The UOB PB VI where we can earn 1 KF/AM for every RM2 spent on dining locally is even better than Maybank Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer AMEX Platinum which earns us 1 KF for every RM2.50 for in person transactions (and that is if the restaurant accepts AMEX).
Whatever it is, if you are going to pay for a wedding dinner/lunch soon and the restaurant does not accept AMEX, get the UOB VI and earn yourself reasonable KrisFlyer Miles for your honeymoon, hahaha.
From what I noticed, prior to September 2025, the additional 4X UNIRinggit earned from dining was credited into my UOB UNIRinggit Rewards Account on 1st of the month. However, the 4X UNIRinggit I earned from dining was only be credited on the 7th of this month (November). AND I just checked today, the additional 4X UNIRinggit for dining I spend in September was not credited – I must go call UOB PB VI Toll FREE number and ask them to check.
The beauty part of UOB UNIRiggit is that they will give you a breakdown of the UNIRinggit you have earned. All you need to to is Log In to your UOB TMRW App and tap on Rewards+ at the bottom and then tap on My Rewards followed by UNIRinggit and tap View More at UNIRinggit History.
In respect to the above, the UOB UNIRinggit History showing where you have earned UNIRiggit is far more superior than Maybank or CIMB which only show us the total Reward Points we have without breaking it down to individual transaction.
Another advantage of UOB Credit Cards besides that we earn more air miles from our overseas transactions versus Maybank credit cards is that we do not need to waste our time on every 1st of the month to convert our Reward Points to Air Miles; and you all know lah Maybank monthly 100M air miles allocated for redemption is just pure ridiculous where the quota will habis within the first hour on the 1st of the month. And I am so pissed off with Maybank because on 1st of November 2025 I could not redeem the air miles I wanted because Maxis did not sent me OTP!!! Freaking wasted my bloody time wanting to redeem at 12.30am on 1st (as Maybank system was under maintenance until then)!!!!
