Details On Many Different Online Scams Produced By Shopee So That You Can Educate Yourself

Stealing Bank Account Details – via SMS or Phone Call

From the above, if you are not expecting a call or SMS from someone you know, no need to be a busybody and reply to any unknown number and SMS.

This scam is not new where people claiming to be from the bank or Bank Negara Malaysia or Police will contact you. Never ever disclose any personal information over the phone.

See, from the above, Shopee is repeating what I have been telling everyone for close to a decade – only call the number behind your credit card when you want to talk to your bank’s Customer Service.

Now, scammers are also using SMS aggregators, e.g. 66444, so never click on any links in SMS too unless you are 101% sure that it is from the bank. How do you verify that it is a genuine SMS from the bank? The SMS number will be same as the one you received your OTP.

For years I have warned you guys in my previous articles on Scams that a number may appear to be genuine but it is a fake where the scammer uses Spoofing Technology to fool you.

If you are new to my blog, I suggest you click here and read my article titled Credit Card Fraud and SMS Alert.
