Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Miles Versus Malaysia Airlines Enrich Points Review 2024

Maybank 2 Cards Premier

So if you are holding the Maybank 2 Cards Premier, it makes more sense to convert your Treats Points to KrisFlyer.

Having said the above, today the Maybank 2 Cards Premier may not be the best credit card for accumulating air miles if you mainly use your Maybank credit cards for local spending. Today we are only earning 2X Treats Points for every RM1 spent LOCALLY with the AMEX Reserve. What this means is that we earn 1 EP or KF or AM for every RM3.50 spent locally.

For overseas spending (other than RM – do not select pay in MYR when overseas but pay in the country’s currency), we are still earning 5X TP. Based on current conversion rate, this means we are earning 1 EP or KF or AM for every RM1.40 spent overseas.

What is the point of the AMEX Reserve as it is similar to the Visa Infinite in terms of earning Treats Points?

Alliance Bank Credit Card

As for Alliance Bank, they have inflated their redemption rate for Enrich Points by 50% back in February 2024!!! So if you are earning 8X Timeless Bonus Points for every RM1 spend, it means you need to spend RM1.875 to earn 1 Enrich Point.

How much do we need to spend LOCALLY in order to redeem a Business Class ticket to London

So with the Maybank 2 Cards Premier, we earn 1 KF for every RM3.5 spent locally. We need 103500 KF Miles, therefore we need to spend RM362,250.00

With the Alliance Bank 8X TBP for selected transaction, we need 149300 Enrich Points, therefore we need to spend RM281,803.75

How much do we need to spend OVERSEAS in order to redeem a Business Class ticket to London

We earn 5X Treats Points with the Maybank 2 Cards Premier for overseas spending. Therefore, in order to earn a Business Class ticket with Singapore Airlines KL to London one-way, we only need to spend RM144,900.

So for overseas spending, the Maybank 2 Cards Premier are still pretty good.

Having said the above, for overseas transactions, certain UOB credit cards are even better than the Maybank 2 Cards Premier to earn KrisFlyer miles in 2024. Notice I mentioned 2024; this is because it is not a “permanent” card feature but a promo and has an expiry date. UOB is now like HSBC where you need to read their TnC annually to figure out what is the conversion rate of their reward points to air miles!!!
