Malaysia Airlines is currently having a up to 15% Off Enrich Point Sale to/from Australia and I had planned to write about it. So happened before I started drafting this said article on Enrich Sale, AmBank launched their new AmBank Enrich Visa Infinite and Visa Platinum. Well everything happens for a reason – those of you who are new to my blog but thinks the AmBank Enrich Credit Cards are good to accumulate Enrich Points may get to learn a thing or two.
I will start off this article with the current Enrich Points Promo to/from Australia which can be good but and the same time also ridiculous.
Malaysia Airlines Enrich Points – Is It Good?
If you are a long time die hard follower of mine, you will know that I have been telling you that you should convert your credit card reward points to KrisFlyer Miles instead of Enrich Points – because Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Miles give you way better value.
Having said the above, if you are my long time die hard follower, you would also be holding the Alliance Bank credit cards that earn you Enrich Points.
However Enrich Points is not like KrisFlyer or Asia Miles where the number of air miles required to redeem for a destination is FIXED. With Malaysia Airlines Enrich Points, the number of Enrich Points can vary for the same destination and up to really absurd amount.
I shall now give you an examples of Enrich Points where we are suppose to have 15% Off Promo if we redeem a ticket to/from Australia before 9th July 2024.
Off Peak Period October 2024
Well I managed to find dates for a return ticket on Economy Class KL/Sydney for 42,600 Enrich Points in October 2024.
From the above, if we can get promo redemption where we only need 21,300 Enrich Points Economy one-way is good.
HOWEVER, it is not everyday we can get a Promo ticket, if you look at the above image again, you will note that one may also need 42,400 Enrich Point for a one-way Economy Class ticket for flight departing from KUL to Sydney on 2nd October at 9.10am!
Below is another example where I managed to find return KL/Sydney for Business Class in October 2024 (Off Peak). Once again, if you can find a Promo Enrich Points tickets then it is very good.
How many of you have flexible travel dates?
If you have schooling children, most likely you have set intention that you can only go on holiday during school holidays, therefore if this was the case, then you may not get to redeem a return Promo Enrich ticket!
Like I said, the Con of Enrich Points is that the number of Enrich Points required for a destination is NOT FIXED!
Below are examples:
Example No.1: You may get a Promo Enrich Business Class Ticket Kuala Lumpur to Sydney in December 2024 with 63,800 Enrich Points but look at the number of Enrich Points you need to redeem a Business Class ticket Sydney to KUL in December!
Despite the fact that Malaysia Airlines advertised that you can get 15% Off Enrich Points for Bookings before 9th July and Travel Period 18th June 2024 to 31st March 2025 – you need 275,800 Enrich Points on 20th December 2024 for a Biz Class Sydney to KL! Ridiculous right?
Example No.2: If you think above is bad and only applicable to Business Class, you are wrong! Below images shows you just how absurd Enrich Points can be for Economy Class:
From the above image, you need 97,900 or 113,500 Enrich Points for a ONE-WAY ECONOMY Class ticket Sydney to KL!!! Go see my article/tutorial on KrisFlyer versus Enrich again (link at the start of this article), you need less KrsiFlyer Miles for a one-way FIRST CLASS ticket Sydney to Changi!!! This example really shows you how ridiculous Enrich Points can be!
Conclusion on Enrich Points – if you can get promo tickets then fantastic but if you have schooling children where you can only travel during Peak Periods you may be in for a shock. Solution – arrange for your schooling children to be taken care by good people and you and your partner go holiday in April/early May or October/ealy November before the peak period where there are less tourist and hotel rooms cheaper!
I tell you, young children will be happier if you just take them to PD where they can enjoy the children swimming pool versus going overseas for holidays which they will most probably forget when they are older. As for babies, you are just making them to suffer when you go overseas!
The New AmBank Enrich Visa Infinite and Visa Platinum Review
Like I mentioned at the start, so happened AmBank launched their new credit card and the above examples give you an idea on collecting Enrich Points and if it is good for you. But more important, if you are a die hard follower of mine, is the AmBank Enrich Visa Infinite or Visa Platinum credit cards any good?
