Recently a Bro invited me to his wedding at Kota Kinabalu and therefore I flew there with Malaysia Airlines. Surprisingly the onboard food was good, my wife had fish curry and I had butter or salted egg chicken (I can’t tell the difference, haha).
After the meal I took a nap and before I know it, the plane was landing. The flight was just slightly above 2 hours.
At the airport I passed my passport to Immigration and then headed to Pillar 5 to take Grab to Hilton Kota Kinabalu which cost me RM8 only!!!
The Bro had booked Hilton KK for me because he was extremely grateful to me for teaching him how to experience Singapore Airlines Suite Class and Emirates First Class for almost FREE. Of course he booked the room at Hilton KK with his air miles.
The room at Hilton was spacious and the bed really comfortable.
A few minutes after we entered the room, someone rang the door bell and passed us complimentary chocolates!
I then posted at my FB that I was in Kota Kinabalu and then searched where to have dinner and decided to go to KK Garden Seafood SEDCO (there is another KK Garden Seafood) which had rating of 4.9 Star at Google!
I took a nap and when I woke up I saw a message that another of My Air Miles Disciples was in town on a Business Trip and was free to meet up for dinner. So I told him to meet at KK Garden Seafood Sedco.
Well the food as KK Garden Seafood Sedco was ok but I know why they have such high rating – it is because the food was cheap (fish and prawns compared to KL) and they have a show where guests can blow darts and learn bamboo dancing.
After dinner the Bro took us to Filipino Market to check it out and we then took a Grab back to Hilton which cost us RM5 only.
The next day was the Bro’s wedding at a Church and then dinner (which was good) but I won’t post any photos to respect the Bro’s privacy. We did go to Imago Shopping Mall for lunch which is just like any mall in KL.
On the 3rd day we we checked out from Hilton at 1pm to go to the Airport. The Bro who was on Business trip to KK had told me that there are two lounges at KK Domestic Terminal near Burger King after gates A19.
Travel Club Lounge Kota Kinabalu Airport
This lounge serve buffer in general but you can also order pasta.

Initially I had fish and chicken to go with rice from the buffet and then ordered spaghetti olio but found it kind of hard.
After the quick simple meal and Travel Club, I walked around to look for a smoking room despite the person at Travel Club told me there was none, haha. However, during my walkabout I saw Flight Club and was told I can order a Main Meal with a Snack (Sandwish) and coffee. So I return to Travel Club and told my wife that we are going to Flight Club because I saw they had Mee Rebus.
It was great to visit Kota Kinabalu again as it has been more than 10 years since I went there. Grab rides is freaking cheap and the seafood good too. At the room at Hilton was really good because the bed was really comfortable for me and I could get a good night sleep.
As for the lounges, I will say I prefer Flight Club as their mains suite me plus the food is brought to my table like First Class Lounge, haha
