Well, effective 1st June 2024, Maybank monthly quota of 100,000,000 Air Miles was reset BUT just like on 1st May 2024, by 10am HABIS!!!

For those of you who are still unaware just how ridiculous are Maybank Credit Cards that earn us Treats Points, click here to my article titled Many Of Us Are Not Able To Get A Credit Card From A Different Card Issuer Despite Holding The Maybank 2 Cards Premier. So What Other Maybank Credit Card To Get?, where I reiterated again just how bad it is today!

Anyway, I saw a Maybank’s Ad which stated that their Maybank Mercedes Benz Visa Infinite is of Luxury and Class Made For You……. and I was like thinking this is a joke,haha.

The Maybank Mercedes Benz card is a Visa Infinite and therefore the benefits are generally similar as the Maybank Visa Infinite where we earn 2X TP and 5X TP for Local and Overseas spending respectively plus we get to enter Plaza Premium Lounges 5X per year for FREE.

But because the Maybank MB VI earns us Treats Points, it means it is also subjected to the monthly 100,000,000 air miles quota for all Maybank Card Members.

Once again, do you know many Maybank Card Members are there? Well if you don’t click here to my article which I published back in March 2024 warning everyone to convert their Treats Points to Air Miles before 12th April 2024. In this said article at Page 3, I not only told you how many Maybank Card Members are there but showed you calculations just how freaking bad is the allocated monthly 100,000,000 air miles.!

So coming back to the 100,000,000 air miles monthly quota – even if you can spend RM10,000,000 a year locally and earn 20,000,000 Treats Points with a Maybank credit card, it may not mean that you will get to redeem 2,000,000 air miles (monthly quota per year per member) because based on records, the 100,000,000 air miles quota was finished before 10am on 1st of May and June 2024!

So Maybank will happily tell you that you can alternatively redeem for other stuff:

So what can you redeem with your Treats Points besides Air Miles? Below are 2 examples:

Example No.1 – you can use 3,249,500 Treats Points to redeem an Apple iPhone 14 Pro which us valued at RM6,499.

In order to earn 3,249,500 Treats Points, you need to spend locally RM1,624,750 with a Maybank Visa Infinite or AMEX Reserve.

Therefore the returns = RM6,499/RM1,624,750 X 100% = 0.4%!!!

Example No.2 – Cash Voucher. You need 513K TP to redeem RM1K AEON Big Voucher.

In order to earn 513,000 Treats Points, you need to spend locally RM256,500 with a Maybank Visa Infinite or AMEX Reserve.

Therefore the returns = RM1000/RM256,500 X 100% = 0.39%!!!

From the above 2 examples, we get less than 0.5% returns from local spending when we redeem our Treats Points for Gadgets or Cash Vouchers! This is totally absurd!

Unless you are My Air Miles Disciple, who understands Time Is Of The Essence, many won’t be able to convert their Treats Points to Air Miles in time to redeem a FREE First Class or Business Class or even Economy Class tickets!

So what Luxury and Class Maybank is talking about? We cannot suka-suka convert our Treats Points to Air Miles anytime we want but have to do it freaking early in the morning on the first day of the month; and thus making us sacrificing our beauty sleep and more importantly affecting our health as we can’t go to bed before 11pm so that our body can rejuvenate and heal itself. Maybank ridiculous TnC is actually detrimental to our well being (physically and mentally too)!!!
