Florence Day 2
We woke up at about 8am as our visit to Galleria Dell’ Accademia, where Michelangelo’s masterpiece David stands, was only scheduled at 10am.
We had breakfast at the hotel since it is included when I booked it.
As I mentioned in my previous post, my hotel is close to all the major tourist sites in Florence. The Galleria Dell’ Accademia is also only 3 minutes walk away.
My youngest daughter purchased the entrance tickets online and therefore we did not need to queue.
Before I show you some really intense graphic images, below are my previous reports of My Europe Trip 2019:

Galleria Dell’ Accademia
Michelangelo’s David
This is the so called masterpiece of Michelangelo…. a sculpture of David which should be rated XXX and should not be shown to those below 18 years old, haha.

David’s ass which you will never get to see unless you visit here or Florence 🙂
19th Century Hall
1st Floor Paintings
Many people missed checking out the 1st Floor of Galleria Dell’ Accademia (they will just exit the building without reading the signage that states 1st Floor) which has many interesting paintings.
What caught my interest was most of the paintings here show Jesus bleeding and some even have blood spurting out from his body. Then it makes sense to me because Jesus was not only crucified but also stabbed by a Roman soldier.

Close up of the same painting above.
IL Desco Restaurant
After checking out David, while walking back to our hotel, we saw a restaurant, called IL Desco, which has Michelin recommended stickers. It was only a few meters away from our hotel. So we had our lunch there.
I tell you, the food at IL Desco was freaking good, the best so far in Italy.

The salmon was cooked to perfection!
Florence Cathedral
Yesterday we only checked out Florence Cathedral Dome, so today we headed back to Florence Cathedral to check out the other attractions.
The Florence Cathedral including the Dome took more than a hundred years to complete. Michelangelo was not even born yet when it was built.

Florence Cathedral:

The door detailing is really amazing

The marble floor is more than 500 years old
And at the basement is a museum! Below is one of the many artifacts on display:

This particular piece reminds me of Kwan Ying (Goddess of Mercy)
Other Interesting Stuff

McD is just at the corner of my hotel.

Home of a former powerful man in Florence
The Best Gelato in Italy is Grom! I have tried a few gelato stores and found most of them to be extremely sweet but not the case for Grom where is really creamy, cold and nice.
Senz’ Altro Restaurant
For dinner, I decided to try out Senz’ Altro which has very good rating and reviews at Google and TripAdvisor Star.

Rabbit meat

Fish

Pork Rib
