Asus A516J-ABR374TS 15.6” Laptop Silver – Intel i3, 4GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Windows 10 and Microsoft Office Home & Student
This is the “cheapest” of the 3 notebooks with Microsoft Office Home & Student mentioned in this article.
It has a 15.6″ High Definition Anti Glare Screen and comes with 256GB SSD Storage.
The processor is an Intel i3 which I mentioned is the minimum you should have or for AMD Case Ryzen 3.
This notebook comes with Integrated Intel® Graphics, which is more than adequate for office work or school work. And the best part is since this computer does not have a graphic card, it won’t get really hot which means it can last longer!
Warranty – 2 Years.
Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14ITL05 82HS009EMJ 14” FHD Touch Laptop Graphite Grey – Intel i3, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Windows 10 and Microsoft Office Home & Student
This notebook also has Intel i3 but has a 14″ Full HD Screen. The good thing about this notebook is that it has 8GB RAM (which makes a difference compared to having 4GB RAM).
Warranty – 2 Years ONSITE (means they come to your place).
What is so cool about this notebook is that it has Touch Screen!
Acer Aspire 5 A515-56-52UY (Black) or A515-56-54AW (Silver) 15.6” FHD Laptop Intel i5, 4GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Iris Xe, Windows 10 and Microsoft Office Home & Student
This is a 15.6″ model. There is a 14″ model with similar specs retailing for about RM100 less.
Unlike the earlier models mentioned, this Acer comes with 512GB SSD and is an Intel i5 notebook.
And the best part is that it comes with 3 Years Acer Local Warranty.
CONCLUSION
As I stated earlier, this article is about notebook costing less than RM3K with Pre-Installed Microsoft Office.
If you get a cheaper sub RM2K notebook, most probably it will have a Intel Celeron processor and without Microsoft Office and therefore in the end you not only have a damn slow computer but need to fork out more money for Microsoft Office. If you are on the tight budget, the Asus model mentioned above with Intel i3 and 2 years warranty is pretty good.
You can also get a Microsoft Surface for less than RM3K but the storage will be like 64GB which is really inadequate if you have lots of photos.
Once again, if you are getting a Windows computer, it is imperative that you get an Anti-Virus software or else you will regret big time when the computer gets infected.
If your child likes to draw, then I guess the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex with Touch Screen is good as you can use Digital Pen.
Last but not least, the entry level Acer Nitro 5 is really good but it does not come with Pre-Instaled Microsoft Office. I bought one this year for about less than RM3K (click here to read about it) where it has the AMD Ryzen 7 Processor and Graphic Card. But at the moment there is hardly any stock for the lower end Nitro 5 but you can easily get one that cost more than RM4K. So if you can wait, before you buy your next computer, check out the Acer Nitro 5. I have even managed to set up my Acer Nitro 5 with 2 external 24″ monitors!
