However, if you visit Shopee or Lazada, you still can get the Seiko 5 GMT in Black or Pumpkin Dial at discounted price but not the Blue Dial. Then again, even at the official retail price of RM2,155 in Malaysia, the Seiko 5 GMT is a still a good deal if you ask me.
Anyway, in the above mentioned article, I told you guys that I bought a Seiko 5 watch for my wife’s nephew 21st Birthday and I purchased the Seiko 5 Sports Model SRPD51K1. Well, the watch was delivered to me today 🙂
The Seiko 5 SRPD comes in various colours and are really cheap considering that we are getting a Branded Automatic Seiko watch. As you can observe below, the Official Retail Price of the Seiko 5 SRPD models are generally less than RM1,200 except for the black colour.
RM1,200 is less than USD300!!! And you can easily get the a Seiko 5 Sports SRPD Automatic for less than RM1K at Shopee or Lazada and even in store at official retailers and end up paying just above USD200!!!
I was contemplating on getting the SRPD53K1 (with Red and Blue bezel) or the SRPD51K1 with Blue Dial and Blue Bezel. I was worried that the Red colour of the SRPD53K1 would fade over time and thus decided to get the SRPD51K1.

Below are photos of the Seiko 5 which I bought for my wife’s nephew.
The first thing I noticed about the Seiko 5 Sports SRPD51K1 Automatic when I hold the watch was – it was heavy. To me this is good as it means the watch is solid, haha.
As for the Blue Dial, because it is navy blue, it does looks kind of like black indoors. However, under the sun the dial does looks blue.
The bezel on the other hand does looks blue regardless indoors or under the sun.
Below photos shows the rear of the watch as it has a clear casing where we can see the inside of the watch, damn cool.
As usual, Seiko 5 Movement are MADE IN MALAYSIA 🙂
