Conclusion Part II – The Best Credit Card for Air Miles 2024

If you have been following me for years, from the days when the Maybank 2 Cards AMEX was launched more than 10 years ago, eventually you would agree with my statement that – the cash back we earned from credit cards will not make our lives any better. So in 2018/2019, I started to teach selected die hard followers of this blog how to earn FREE air miles from thin air and now many of them have experienced Singapore Airlines Suite Class and even Emirates First Class which they thought was never possible in their lifetime.

Sadly the days of us earning meaningful FREE Air Miles to experience Singapore Suite Class within 1 year is now history.

Also the days of us earning 1 air mile for every RM0.90 spent with the AMEX Reserve is also gone!

As I have shown you, playing cash back for expenses related to petrol and groceries is better than playing air miles.

The Maybank KrisFlyer AMEX will actually give you less than 5% in returns and seriously, you need to spend RM250K to earn 100K KrisFlyer Miles.

However, if you have money to burn away on non essential expenses (example Chanel, Rolex, Hennessy XO and other luxury items) or your child is going to study overseas where the uni accepts credit card, then go do some research and get the right credit cards (yes you need more than 1 credit card for different spending) that reward you with air miles so that you get to experience First Class or Suite Class for FREE. Last but not least, if you are thinking of terminating your Maybank 2 Cards Premier, below are what you should do:

Step 1 – convert all your Treats Points from your Principal and Supplementary Maybank 2 Cards Premier to air miles or worst come to worst for cash vouchers.

Step 2 – Apply for the new Maybank Mercedes Benz Visa Infinite METAL CARD to shiok sendiri. Currently the annual fee is waived for the first 2 years. Basically the MB VI has the same benefits as the standard Maybank VI where you can enter airport lounges 5X per year for FREE.

Step 2 continue if applicable – apply for the Maybank Petronas Visa to earn 8X TP.

Step 3 – Call Maybank Customer Service and check when is your Maybank 2 Cards Premier anniversary date.

Step 4 – Stop using the Maybank 2 Cards Premier once you get the new MB VI Metal Card.

Step 5 – Terminate/cancel the Maybank 2 Cards Premier before the anniversary date. Once again make sure you have converted/redeemed all the Treats Points as it is not transferable to another Maybank credit card account.
