Revision To Maybank Air Miles Redemption Rate For Treats Points And Membership Reward Points Effective 22nd May 2024

Back in March I warned all about Maybank new TnC where they will have a monthly air miles quota applicable to all their credit card holders effective 12th April 2024.

Click here to read my article Revision To Maybank Air Miles Redemption TnC Effective 12th April 2024 – You Better Plan Ahead Because Only You Are To Be Blamed If You Can’t Redeem A First Class Ticket When You See It Because You Were To Greedy Worrying About Expiry And Not Having Them On Standby

As usual, despite me warning in the above said article, that all Maybank card holders are subjected to the new monthly quota, where I even showed calculations how ridiculous it is considering how many are holding Maybank credit cards, many were too calculative and think they are smarter than me.

For those who are new to my blog and not my air miles disciples, you see, my followers are taught over and over again (1) Time Is Of The Essence, (2) Nothing Last Forever, (3) Banks/Card Issuers inflate their Reward Redemption Program periodically, (4) Frequent Flyer Programs also inflate their redemption periodically and (5) with item 1 to 4, soon most of us will only earn enough credit card reward points to fly Economy!

So those who are calculative and greedy – where they intend to only convert their Treats Points nearer to the expiry so that their Enrich Points and KrisFlyer Miles expire later on will not have followed my warning to convert their TP to Air Miles before 12th April 2024. In respect to Asia Miles which has no expiry (if we have a transaction within 18 months (can just convert 1K AM lah), only a fool will convert their TPs to Asia Miles after 12 April 2024.

As I have foreseen (actually just using my common sense that the total combined monthly air miles quota set by Maybank is too freaking low), many have reported to me that they wanted to convert their Maybank Treats Points to air miles in late April (beginning from 27th April 2024) but was told by the CS quota habis!

FYI, I converted most of my Maybank Cards’ Rewards Points to Air Miles in late March 2024, so now I am not stressed and can take it easy πŸ™‚

I have freaking bad news…………… Revision of Air Miles Conversion Rate for Maybank Cards will take effect on 22nd May 2024

Maybank Premier Credit Cards

From the above, effective 22nd May, for the Maybank 2 Cards Premier, we will need 10K TP = 1K Enrich or KrisFlyer or Asia Miles

10K TP = 1K Air Miles, that’s 42.86% inflation!!!

So with the new conversion rate, below is how much we need to spend to earn 1 air mile:

2X TP – 1 EP/KF/AM for every RM5 spent!!!

5X TP – 1 EP/KF/AM for every RM2 spent!!!

Bros & Sis, we all know that we now only earn 2X TP with the Visa Infinite and AMEX Reserve for Local Spending, this means we need to spend RM5 on local transaction just to earn 1 air mile!!!

As for overseas, we need to spend RM2 to earn 1 Air Mile with the Maybank 2 Cards Premier…… which is also useless because I have mentioned many times previously that UOB credit cards earn us more air miles!

Maybank Entry Level Gold and Platinum Credit Cards

For the Entry Level Gold and Platinum credit cards, they are also affected where the new conversion rate will be 20K TP = 1K Air Mile!

We still do earn 5X TP with the Maybank 2 Cards Gold/Platinum AMEX. So with the new conversion rate of 20K TP = 1K Air Mile, it means we need to spend RM4 to earn 1 air miles! Well, it is still better than Maybank 2 Cards Premier…. go figure, hahaha.

Bros & Sis, come 22nd May 2024, Maybank Credit Cards that earn us Treats Points are as good as useless for Local Transactions.

Time Is Of The Essence

Well, if you think you have until 22nd May 2024 to convert your Treats Points to Air Miles, you are a fool, hahaha. I reckoned that the 100,000,000 air miles monthly quota will habis in less than 3 days, i.e. before 4th May 2024!

However, from past history. the management of Maybank are very compassionate people. Therefore maybe they will waive the 100,000,000 air miles monthly quota for this month of May 2024 so that all their existing card holders have the opportunity to convert their TP to air miles based o the current rate before 22nd May 2024.

I guess soon I will have to produce new tutorials on what credit cards we should be holding after 22nd May 2024…………………………. maybe it will be better that we air miles fans return to playing cash back as I have shown to those of you who are my new FB Friends that playing cash back can be very rewarding if and only if you follow my instructions to the dot.

UPDATE 1st May 2024

As I warned all of you in my article back in March 2024, where I even showed you calculations, the total combined monthly air miles quota of 100,000,000 for all Maybank card holders is damn freaking ridiculously low.

Well those of you who read this article yesterday 30th April 2024 and immediately planned your actions taking into consideration what I have taught all of you about pass credit card promotions (i.e. time is of the essence – first come first serve), most likely you would have successfully converted your TP to air miles. Those of you who dilly dallied and took actions after 9am 1st of May would have been told the following:

For those who are now stuck with TP and can’t convert until next month, I guess you have learned your lesson – next time check out GenX GenY GenZ daily and read all my articles (the title of my article is never what it seems and there are always coded messages in all my articles) and listen to me! Back in March 2024 I already warned all to convert their TP and MR to air miles before 12th April 2024. If you follow my instructions shit happens situation will not happen, hahaha.

Well, if you missed the boat this time, it is not end of the world, moreover the Treats Points are FREE, so be grateful that you are blessed πŸ™‚
