Well another credit card is downgrading their reward program and this time it is the Hong Leong Bank Visa Infinite Credit Card effective 22nd May 2025.
First of all, the HLB Visa Infinite is FREE FOR LIFE without any condition, which means you should be holding this said card. Why? As I explained before, you never know if a card issuer will launch a new credit card in the future with excellent benefits. As since nowadays it is kind of hard to get a new credit card for a bank which you do not currently hold any credit cards if you already have several credit cards, it will be easier for you to get a new credit card from the same issuer as your Credit Limit is Combined and this no new liability to the bank.
Below are the new revision effective 22nd May 2025 for HKB Visa Infinite:
For dining, you will, the HLB Visa Infinite will be excellent effective 22nd May 2025 as you will earn 1 Enrich Point for every RM1 spent. But seriously, how much can you eat a month if you do not have to entertain your clients. I guess the reason why HLB is offering this feature is basically as a carrot to retain existing customers!
As for Travel and Retail Spending, we can earn 1 Enrich Point for every RM4 spent. Is this good? Well if you can use AMEX, which you can at most departmental stores and airlines including Agoda, the AMEX Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer is way better!
The Maybank AMEX KrisFlyer is also good for Petrol and Groceries (including Speed 99) which the HLB VI is useless.
As for Overseas spending, I am surprised that we earn the same exact number of Enrich Points as local spending for the different categories. Is the MCC Codes same for overseas’ merchants? For overseas transactions, better you use UOB Visa Infinite as I have reiterated over and over again.
Basically the HLB Visa Infinite is kind of useless effective 22nd May 2025 as we can only earn 1 Enrich Point for every RM6 spent on most expenses.
