Two people messaged me about the new Maybank World Elite MasterCard. If you refer to M2U, you will see below (the Ikhwan is basically is the same as the conventional):

Well the statement “Up to 25X TP for every RM5” immediately caught my attention until I read the TnC! Hahaha.

In respect to the above paragraph, if we do not earn a single Treats Point if we spend less than RM5 then the statement is accurate and honest. However, if we do earn 5X TP for every RM1 spent overseas then the above statement is really freaking misleading and Maybank might as well say earn up to 100X TP for every RM20 spent overseas!

We still only earn 2X TP and 5X TP with every Ringgit spent Locally and Overseas respectively with the new Maybank World Elite MasterCard – no difference with the Maybank Visa Infinite as far as earning TP.

Another interesting thing is I no longer can find Maybank World MasterCard at M2U. I guess it make sense that Maybank replace it with the new Elite giving it more prestige; BUT since the new Maybank World Elite MasterCard earns us Treats Points – IT IS A MAJOR CON.

I tell you, the person who proposed to Maybank Management that there be a cap of 100M Monthly Air Miles for all cardholders is a very selfish person and worst is the person in the Maybank Management that approved the proposal who is even more selfish and know nuts about business!

In respect to the above, why I say selfish? Reason is that the person who proposed the 100M monthly air miles quota is super keh khiang only thinking of his/her promotion and did not think of us the cardholders (we the customers who are paying his/her salary from our card transactions and of course the interest imposed on Outstanding Balances) where we are now need to freaking suffer staying up late on the last the of the month so that we can hopefully get to redeem the air miles we want on 12.01am!!! The last 2 months, the 100M air miles quota habis before 1am on 1st of the month!

And why is the person in the Senior Management who approved the proposal is even worst? Well this person ultimately made us suffer (he/she is fully responsible as his junior exec who made the proposal knows next to nuts as they are not expected to see the overall big picture) and making Maybank cardholders unhappy and stressed (stress is the root cause of all illnesses)! And if the customer are not happy, they will move to another bank….. and in my case I have been using my UOB PB VI for my overseas transactions.

Of course not many people educate themselves on credit cards and would stupidly continue to use their Maybank Credit Cards that earn them Treats Points for their overseas transactions. The smart ones are reading GenX GenY GenZ and have gotten a Premier UOB Credit Cards for their overseas transactions to earn much more air miles compared to a Maybank Credit Card.

I tell you, the previous Management of Maybank pre-covid were more honest and transparent where they do not mislead us and more importantly they did not impose the stupid combined 100M monthly air miles quota for all cardholders!

The above paragraphs are to warn you that if you are into Air Miles, Maybank Credit Cards that earn you Treats Points, be prepared to earn less air miles and you need to sacrifice your beauty sleep on the last day of the month if you want to redeem air miles on the first second of a new month. Read carefully, I mentioned first second and not first hour of the first day of the month.

Another thing, the contents below, I am assuming the rate to redeem air miles is 10K TP to 1K air miles as I cannot seem to find anything at Maybank’s Treats Points Catalogue for the new World Elite MasterCard.

Buy 1 Free 1 Biz Class with Qatar Airways

First of all, in order to be eligible for the Buy 1 Free 1 Biz Class to London or Paris only, you need to spend RM250K.

And this is a promotion where you must accumulated minimum RM250K spending BEFORE 8th October 2025.

Wait, it is not guaranteed too but first come first serve as there is a quota for the entire promotional period until 8th October 2025. You go read the TnC.

Well assuming you do spend RM250K overseas, you will get 125K air miles (that is if you managed to redeem the air miles on the 1st of the month).

If you spend 250K with UOB Privilege Banking Visa Infinite or Visa Infinite, you will earn 250K and 208K air miles respectively. Therefore you will be earning more air miles which you can fly to anywhere on earth!

If you are spending RM250K Locally with the Maybank World Elite MasterCard (max at the rate of 1 air mile for every RM5 spent locally) then you have lots to learn so that you earn more air miles ……. and you can start off by reading all my articles, hahahaha.

I have mentioned many times, the entry level Maybank 2 Platinum Cards AMEX and the Maybank KrisFlyer Miles Platinum AMEX both earn you more air miles than Maybank Premier Visa or MasterCard! Example, if one spends RM250K locally with the Maybank World Elite MasterCard, he/she will only earn maximum 50K air miles versus Maybank KrisFlyer AMEX minimum 100K KrisFlyer Miles. Ok Ok you never been to London or Paris, fine go get the Maybank World Elite MasterCard, haha. But most of you who have been reading my blog would have visited London and Paris on either Suite Class or First Class or Business Class and would rather fly to another destination.

Airport Lounge FREE Access

16X Lounge access per calendar year is good but then again if you are a follower of my blog, I guess you have more than enough credit cards to grant you free access to airport lounges.

However, you can bring a guest with you to enter the lounge which is good.

Should You Get The Maybank World Elite MasterCard?

The answer to the above question is YES if you are holding the useless Maybank 2 Cards Premier.

Why YES? Same reasons (FREE FOR LIFE and it is a METAL card) and when you should apply (before you Maybank 2 Cards Premier Anniversary) as stated in Page 2 of my article titled Maybank Treats Points Credit Cards Are Kind of Absurd Nowadays But Maybank Cash Back Credit Cards Are Still The Best (click here to read it).

As most of you know, never judge the title of my articles as the contents can be completely not even related to the title but my article are to educate you.
