KrisFlyer Miles Just Got Better With Scoot Award Chart Part II – Value Of 1 KrisFlyer Mile and Scoot Versus AirAsia

Previously I introduced to all of you the new Scoot Award Chart where we can use our KrisFlyer Miles to redeem air tickets with less KrisFlyer Miles to the same destination. For example we only need 14K KrisFlyer Miles to redeem a flight ticket from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne instead of 30,500 KrisFlyer Miles for Singapore Airlines Saver Option ticket or even Malaysia Airlines Enrich which requires 25,500 Enrich Points during off peak (Enrich is ridiculous if we cannot get Saver Option).

Seriously, if you are thinking of flying on Economy Class, the Scoot Award Chart using KrisFlyer Miles can be very very good especially (1) during Peak Periods or (2) when you do not have enough Air Miles to redeem ticket(s) with Singapore Airlines to a certain destination.

For example, a one-way Saver Option with Scoot to Greece or Austria only require 25.5K KrisFlyer Miles whereas if you select One World Option at Enrich then you may need more than 50K Enrich Points for an Economy Class ticket.

However, Scoot is a Budget Airlines and therefore you will need to pay for this and that, therefore it is more appropriate than I compared Scoot to AirAsia.

Scoot versus AirAsia

In the earlier article, i.e. Part I, I have shown you than a one-way AirAsia ticket cost about RM800 Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne. However, during Peak Periods an AirAsia Economy Class ticket can even cost more than Malaysia Airlines!

Below you will see than a one-way Economy Class AirAsia ticket KUL to Australia in January 2026 can cost between RM2.3K to RM3.2K!!!

A one-way Economy Scoot air ticket KUL to MEL in January 2026 is also more than RM2K in January 2026.

On the other hand, if you book now, you can get tickets with Scoot Saver Option KUL to Melbourne for 14K KrisFlyer Miles!!!

Case 1 – if you do not need Check-In Baggage and seat selection, it will only cost you RM204.25!!! What this means is that you can easily save MORE THAN RM2K compared to an AirAsia ticket to Melbourne in January 2026!!!

Case 2 – You select the Value Option where you get 20 kg Check-In and Seat Selection, then it will cost you RM519 which is still better than AirAsia in January 2026 to Melbourne!!!

So from the above, assuming we go with Case 2 where we need to pay RM519.93 for a Scoot ticket KUL to Melbourne using 14K KrisFlyer Miles AND we save RM1.5K (will be more) compared to paying for an AirAsia ticket, this means that one KF Mile is worth =

RM1500/14000 KrisFlyer Miles = RM0.107

Bros and Sis, we are talking Suite Class value here, i.e 1 KF can be worth 10 sen!!! please note I assumed we save RM1.5K but it can go as high as RM2.7K.

Ok, ok, what about if we are booking an AirAsia Economy one-way ticket for RM799?

Assuming we select Value Option too with AirAsia, where we have 20 kg Check-In Baggage and Seat Selection, then the AirAsia ticket total would be RM979 (see below image):

therefore the saving using 14K KrisFlyer Miles to redeem a Scoot One-Way ticket KUL to Melbourne (also with Value Option) versus AirAsia = RM979 – RM519.93 = RM459.07

Well, in this case our KrisFlyer Mile value would drop to = RM459.07/14K KF = RM0.0327

3 sen! That’s about the same value if we were redeeming for Singapore Airlines or Malaysia Airlines Economy Class ticket!

In respect to the above paragraph, for my case, I would rather save the KrisFlyer Miles for another day…… as shown in my previous article, I rather pay for the AirAsia Premium Flat Bed instead of getting miserable value for my KrisFlyer Miles.

Having said the above, assuming you only have 28K KrisFlyer Miles (or 25K Enrich Points) and you need two tickets KUL to Melbourne, then you definitely won’t be able to even redeem a Singapore Airlines (or Malaysia Airlines) Economy Saver Option ticket KL to Melbourne (1 pas 30.5K KF Mile); therefore in this case in make sense to use your 28K KrisFlyer Miles to redeem for 2 Economy Class tickets with Saver Option for Scoot tickets. And by doing so, you also save close to RM900 compared to buying outright 2 Economy Class tickets with AirAsia where each ticket base price is RM799.

Now, when AirAsia has a Sale, it is a completely different story as we can get an Economy Class ticket KL to Melbourne for only RM499. In this case, it makes more sense to fly with AirAsia; moreover AirAsia flies direct KL to Melbourne too!

CONCLUSION

The Scoot Saver Option where we can use our KrisFlyer Miles is freaking fantastic as we can save a lot of money during Peak Periods. Now, there are limited seats allocated for the Saver Option and thus Time Is Of The Essence. If you dilly dally and there are no Saver Options but only Advantage available then you are to be blamed…… then again it may be a blessing in disguise as the Universe wants you to fly with Singapore Airlines Saver Option, haha.

And I have showed you above that during Peak Periods, our KrisFlyer Miles value can be worth as much as if you are redeeming for a Suite Class, that’s if you can get a Saver Option with Scoot.

And because our KrisFlyer Miles can be worth as much as 10 sen per KF Mile, I tell you, it just makes the Maybank Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Miles AMEX Platinum even much better as it also allows more people to fly with less KF Miles.
