INTRODUCTION
My youngest sister is a Professor in the USA and suddenly out of the blue, my mum told me back in September that she will be flying back to KL end October and returning to San Francisco in early November with Singapore Airlines.
I tell you, my sister’s return ticket San Francisco/KL (non-stop SFO/SIN)) with Singapore Airlines was damn freaking cheap, i.e. it cost her less than USD700 (less than RM3K)!!! And best of all, it’s a non-stop flight from San Francisco to Singapore, i.e. no need to waste time transiting in Hong Kong. If one was to use his/her KrisFlyer miles to redeem a return Economy Class ticket on the same flights as my sister, he/she would get less than 4% return (based on AMEX Reserve local expenses and any other credit card it will be worst off)!!! Like I have been telling you guys, it is damn stupid to use our credit cards’ reward points converted to air miles and use the air miles to redeem for Economy Class tickets because the equivalent cash back we can earn is really pathetic. You should only use your Air Miles to redeem for Business Class (to Europe or North America) or First Class tickets.
Therefore, if I had known my sister will be flying to KL, I would have used my air miles to redeem for her a return First or Business Class ticket.
Anyway, in September 2018, I checked out what options she has and I found out that I could get her a seat for her return back to San Francisco in early November 2018:
- First Class one way KL – Singapore – Hong Kong – San Francisco on a Boeing 777 worth RM27K OR
- Business Class one way Singapore Direct Flight to San Francisco on an Airbus A350 worth RM16K.
Guess what? Well my sister would rather fly Business Class Direct Flight to San Francisco instead of First Class (ticket worth RM10K more) where she has to waste time transiting in Hong Kong.
My Experience on Business Class with Singapore Airlines Boeing 777
I have flew Business Class with Singapore Airlines on a Boeing 777 from Melbourne to Singapore and I thought the seat was a damn stupid!!! I tell you, Singapore Airlines Business Class seat is a joke because their so called flat bed is more like 3/4 bed!!!
I have flew many times to Europe with Malaysia Airlines A380 and I tell you, their flat bed is really comfortable unlike Singapore Airlines. My wife also flew back from Melbourne with Malaysia Airlines back in July 2018 and she told me the bed was super comfortable and all she had to do was press the buttons to convert from sitting to flat bed position unlike Singapore Airline where one has to manually do it!!!
Those of you who have only flew on Singapore Airlines Business Class Boeing 777, I tell you, you don’t know what is real Business Class flat bed unless you have flown on Malaysia’s Airlines A380. AirAsia’s flat bed is also nothing compared to Malaysia Airlines flat bed because it is not 100% flat.
Because Singapore Airlines Business Class seats are so near, one has to sleep “senget”!!!! I tell you, Singapore Airlines Business Class Flat Bed is to be called 3/4 Bed!!!
My Sister’s Flight From Singapore Direct to San Francisco On Airbus A350 which Singapore Airlines Claims To Be The Ultimate Experience
I expected Singapore Airlines Airbus A350 Direct to SFO Business Class seat to be much better than my damn stupid experience 3/4 flat bed with Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 Business Class.
Well, my sister has landed safely in San Francisco and sent me her live report and I was shocked!!! Because, the Business Class seat on the Airbus A350 is exactly the same as the stupid 3/4 flat bed on their Boeing 777!!! WTF! If I have known, I would have redeemed a First Class ticket for my Sister to San Francisco.
Below is my sister’s Live Report on her flight back to San Francisco where she confirmed that we also needed to sleep “senget”, hahaha.
CONCLUSION
Considering the fact that the conversion rate of our Treats Points to Enrich, KrisFlyer and Asia Miles are the same with the Maybank 2 Cards Premier, I recommend that you avoid flying Business Class with Singapore Airlines unless you don’t mind a 3/4 bed and sleep “senget” (diagonally). Maybe it is okaylah since it is free but I really cannot comprehend a person paying for it with real cash for a damn stupid Business Class 3/4 flat bed!!! AirAsia’s Flat Bed may not be as comfortable as Malaysia Airlines’ Flat Bed but at least you can sleep straight 🙂
And what further shocked me is that Singapore Airlines Business Class is ranked 2nd in the world after Qatar!!! How can that be possible?
As for Singapore Airlines New Suites Class on Airbus A380, that is one experience you should not miss as it is a different world altogether.
The good news is – Singapore Airlines have come to their senses and are offering true full flat bed for selected Business Class flights 🙂
