As you guys know, my wife and I sometimes fly Business Class with Malaysia Airlines to or from Melbourne. In my last Malaysia Airlines Business Class Live Travel Report back in 2019, I had basically nothing good to say about it. Same same as the many Live Travel Reports from my followers who flew Biz Class with Malaysia Airlines where none of them were impressed.
If you fly with Singapore Airlines, the moment you walked into the plane, the steward and stewardess will greet you with – welcome back Mr. X.
However, for the past 2 years many of my followers and myself have reported that Malaysia Airlines stewardess and stewards nowadays never ever addressed us as Mr. X or Ms. Y unlike many years ago.
And most of you know that I am a cognac lover and I never fail to complain about the “not so good” cognac served on board Malaysia Airlines Business Class.
Below was my last report on Malaysia Airlines Business Class and you will note that I had nothing good to say where they were not willing to serve me croissant and for the matter anything for breakfast!!!
Well, I just (March 2020) returned to KL from Melbourne with Malaysia Airlines Business Class and I was amazed with the level of service by the cabin crew! The inflight experience was really wonderful.
But before I touch on my In-flight experience, I will first present to you the report on Qantas Lounge.
QANTAS LOUNGE MELBOURNE
Malaysia Airlines no longer have their Golden Lounge in Melbourne despite the fact that there are 3 flights daily in and out of Melbourne. Therefore, we get to use the Qantas Lounge. Actually you can even use any One World Lounge if they are open and in this case Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounge in Melbourne.
This was the second time I have visited the Qantas Lounge in Melbourne International Airport and I tell you, it is really pathetic compared to Singapore Airlines Silver Kris Lounge which is right opposite, hahaha.
Since my flight was after midnight, the were hardly any crowd.

The AMEX Lounge is opposite the Qantas Lounge and so is Singapore Airlines Business Class Lounge.

No Cognac!!! No class lounge, hahaha.

Wide selection of cheap beers.
The food that was offered in the Qantas Business Class Lounge did not look good to me. Melbourne is famous for their coffee made by Barista but here the coffee is from a machine! I tell you, even both the Plaza Premium Lounge and MAS Golden Lounge at KLIA have coffee Barista.
Guess what? The AMEX Lounge in Melbourne opposite the Qantas Lounge actually have a coffee Barsita and I think the food is better too! Too bad the AMEX Lounge closes at 11pm else we would have went there using our Maybank AMEX Reserve.
Anyway, my wife got me a toasted sandwich and to my surprise it actually tasted pretty good, hahaha. Since there was no cognac, I opted for a bottle of lager.
Now, I have visited Qantas First Class Lounge in Melbourne and I tell you, it was really fantastic. Click on the image below and you get to see the Breakfast Menu which has a wide selection and cooked to order.
MALAYSIA AIRLINES BUSINESS CLASS IN FLIGHT SERVICE
As I mentioned earlier, I was truly amazed with the service provided by the cabin crew this time.
The moment I entered the plane and passed my boarding pass to the steward at the door, he immediately greeted me as Mr. X. Later when about to land only I realized that this Indian gentleman was the Chief Steward as he was wearing a red tie (red baju kebaya for Chief Stewardess). This was surprised No.1.
Before taking off, one of the stewardess when around to check who wants breakfast as it was to be served 2 hours before landing which means we will get to sleep less. When it was my turn, she greeted me as Mr. X. And throughout the flight, this same stewardess will addressed me as Mr. X – this was surprise No.2. I tell you, it does makes a big difference when a steward or stewardess addressed you as Mr. X instead of Sir. Whenever I fly Qantas or Singapore Airlines either First Class or Business Class, the cabin crew always addressed me as Mr. X.
The Chief Steward was serving my wife’s side of the aisle and he did addressed my wife as Madam X several times too throughout the flight.
Surprised No.3 – when they were about to serve the famous Malaysia Satay, the same stewardess mentioned above took our my tray table without me asking her to do so!
However, when I woke up for breakfast, another stewardess INSTRUCTED me to take out the tray table!!! WTF!!! However, so happened the Chief Steward was serving my wife (on the opposite aisle) and he immediately assisted me to take out the tray table as I was damn blur on how to do so, haha.
Surprise No.4 – this is not a plus but it makes no difference to me. Malaysia Airlines no longer gives out amenities bag but who cares. To me this amenities bag is rubbish and only takes up space. I did ask the stewardess who kept addressing me as Mr.X throughout the flight for a Shaving Kit and Tooth Brush and she gladly gave it to me.
And the biggest surprise of all to me is that Malaysia Airlines now serves quality cognac on board their flights, to be exact – Courvoisier XO. Thus Malaysia Airlines Business Class is now on par with Singapore Airlines Business Class where they serve the same XO on board for Business Class 🙂
I tell you, someone from Malaysia Airlines must be reading my articles and took note of my complains on the cognac served on board previously. In my recent article on MAS Golden Lounge at KLIA, I also mentioned that I was pleasantly surprised that they were serving Martell VSOP Red Barrel instead of the horrible Price Polignac.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the person responsible for replacing the previous Otard XO and Price Polignac VSOP with the much better Courvoisier XO and Martell VSOP respectively, thus giving Malaysia Airlines Business Class some real class.
Surprised No.5, they had croissant for breakfast, hahaha.
The Business Class Seats
There are so many reports presented on MAS Biz Class seats, but I will once again post some of the photos I took:

Yours truly wearing the cheapo but technologically advance Casio G-Shock Red Heritage Solar Powered with Bluetooth

Wifey seating beside me. Me wearing cheapo watch while she wears one of the most sought after ladies watch on planet earth.

White Coffee ‘O’ – this is another surprise.

Malaysia Airlines Satay are really good.
CONCLUSION
I had a wonderful experience this time with Malaysia Airlines Business Class thanks to the stewardess that was serving me. She was courteous, efficient (took out my tray table without me asking unlike the other stewardess who instructed me!), attended to all my requests and addressed me as Mr.X throughout the flight.
As I mentioned above, the Chief Steward also addressed my wife as Madam X throughout the flight.
I tell you, if all Malaysia Airlines’ cabin crew are trained to provide personal service like the above mentioned 2 persons, Malaysia Airlines will be awarded the titled of World’s Best Business Class 🙂
And because I was so delighted with the service of 2 persons from Malaysia Airlines Business Class Cabin Crew, I am going to convert some of my credit cards points to Enrich. This is also because I currently have more than enough air miles in my other frequent flyer program accounts where I can fly round the world 3 to 4 times if I want on First Class with several airlines which include British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Qantas, Singapore Airlines and even Emirates First Class to Europe!
And if I do convert my credit cards’ reward points to Enrich before end of March 2020, I can get extra 10% Enrich Miles.
