Emirates Announced That Effective 12 May 2025 Only Skywards Platinum, Gold and Silver Tier Membership Are Allowed To Redeem First Class Ticket. What this means is Skywards Blue Membership Can’t Redeem First Class Ticket Using Classic Awards.

Introdcution

For the past few years many of My Air Miles Disciples have flown with Emirates First Class where we get to enjoy Hennessy Paradis.

I myself have flown with Emirates First Class of Airbus A380 (Singapore to Dubai) and Boeing 777 Game Changer (Dubai to Geneva) but I did not post a report at this blog but shared the photos at my personal FB. For your information, you can stopover for FREE at Dubai when you fly with Emirates. Example, you found a ticket for redemption on 1st Jan to Dubai and 4th Jan Dubai to Geneva, what you can do to enjoy the 4 days stopover for FREE, is call Emirates Customer Service to combined the two redemptions as you will then only need a total of 141K and 120K Skywards for First Class and Business Class respectively.

We only need 141K Skywards to experience First Class KUL to Europe or vice-versa. Biz Class on the other hand needs 120K, which is only 20K less, and therefore it makes no sense to redeem a Biz Class ticket with our Emirates Skywards.

Only the Emirates Airbus A380 allows us to experience taking a shower 30K ft above sea level.

Skyward Blue Tier And First Class Redemption Revision

Since most of My Air Miles Disciples and I fly Biz Class and First Class for FREE, we don’t earnany Elite Points. I am still on Blue/Lowest Tier Status with Emirates, Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines despite flying with them on Biz or First Class, haha.

Yesterday night a Bro messaged me to inform that effective 12th May 2025, Emirates Skywards Platinum, Gold and Silver are allowed to redeem First Class Award tickets. What this means is those of use with Blue Tier Membership can no longer redeem First Class ticket!

I immediately blasted the message to those who are in my current WhatsApp Chat Group and today a few of us were busy finding 1st Class tickets, haha.

I managed to redeem a First Class ticket with Emirates from Nice to Kuala Lumpur and another Sis informed me she managed to secure a First Class Geneva to KUL.

So if you have Skywards and only Blue Membership Status, you better go redeem for a First Class ticket with Emirates NOW!

UPGRADING from Biz to First Class

Previously also many of My Air Miles Disciples upgraded their Patners from Business Class (redeemed using Skywards) to First Class using the App or at the airport. But this method will require more Skywards.

For example, one redeems a Biz Class KL to Europe for 120K. A month before the flight, they were offered to upgrade to First Class KUL to Dubai with 49K Skywards, i.e. one leg. Therefore, the total Skywards would then be 169K which is more than a direct Classic Award 1st Class ticket at 141K Skywards.

I guess the above said method to upgrade should still be available to Blue Tier Members as it requires much more Skywards compared to direct redemption for 1st Class.

Last but not least, as shown in all the Emirates First Class reports, the First Class Lounge at Dubai is excellent and you can bring a guest if you are flying First Class.
