Back in July 2024, I redeemed Return Biz Class tickets KUL/MEL with Malaysia Airlines for both my wife and I; but my wife and I were on separate bookings as she used her own Enrich Points for her tickets. At that time Malaysia Airlines was having up to 15% Enrich Points Discount and therefore I only needed 63,800 Enrich Point for One Way Biz Class to/from Melbourne.

Then about a month before we were suppose to depart KL for Melbourne, we were informed that our original flight was cancelled and we were scheduled to fly out of KLIA 3 days later, which was fine with me. That time MAS was having some issues and many flights were cancelled.

But about 2 weeks before our return flight Melbourne to KL, both my wife and I received separate emails from Malaysia Airlines informing about seat change. Which was fine and we accepted the changes (well I cannot do anything about it, haha).

HOWEVER, 48 hours before the flight, I could not Check-In my wife; so I then went to Manage Booking and noted that Malaysia Airlines had changed my wife’s flight to the next day at 00:30! My flight was still on schedule on the same day at 15:10.

My wife called Malaysia Airlines Customer Service and was told they can’t do shit and therefore my wife and I had to return on separate flights. Need to waste money on extra trips with UBER and Grab basically, haha.

So since my flight was still as scheduled at 15:10, I woke up at 08:00 and read an SMS from Malaysia Airlines informing me that my flight has been rescheduled to 23:00 that day! Freaking wasting my time and sacrificing my beauty sleep waking up early.

However, because my flight was rescheduled to 23:00 and my wife flight was on the next day at 00:30, I told my wife that she shall follow me to the airport. So it was a blessing in disguise as I then did not need to fork out extra money for another UBER ride to Melbourne Airport, haha.

And since the time difference between my flight and my wife’s flight was 1.5 hours, I even met her inside at Mahabara Lounge Melbourne Airport.

Besides the Satay and Cognac, I did not have anything else but went to sleep as was too tired. And the best part of Malaysia Airlines Business Class is we can sleep straight unlike Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 where we need to sleep “senget”.

The pretty stewardess did wake me up an hour before landing as I had ordered Instant Noodles (you must try it, it is Maggie In A Cup but prawns and fish balls added served in a nice bowl).

I landed 1.5 hours earlier in KLIA compared to my wife. 1.5 hours is pretty short, so I decided to wait for her and share the Grab ride back to my home.

Since I had time to kill, first I went to take a smoke (the smoking room is located near Gate 31). Then I headed to Travel Club Lounge and asked the girl if I could enter with my Arrival Boarding Pass and she said YES! Fantastic.

After I had my coffee and a light meal at Travel Club Lounge, I headed back to the Smoking Room.

On the way to the Smoking Room, in front of Kepler I saw that we can enter with Lounge Key (MasterCard), Dragon Pass (UOB Credit Cards) and Priority Pass. Since I have both Dragon Pass and Priority Pass, I asked the receptionist at Kepler if I can sleep for FREE and she said YES for up to 3 hours only.

While enjoying my smoke at the Smoking Room, I received a WhatsApp message from my wife informing me that she had landed. So after I finished my cigarette, I headed to the Gate to meet up with my wife. To know which Gate I had to go to meet my wife, all I needed to do was ask at the Information Counter.

We then took the BMW 7 Series to the Main Terminal and picked up our luggage and took Grab home.

CONCLUSION

Malaysia Airlines rescheduling our flights departing from KL or Melbourne is not a big issue for me BUT if I were to fly or depart from any other cities then it will cause me a big headache!

In respect to the above, this is where Singapore Airlines is far more superior than Malaysia Airlines. I have been flying with Singapore Airlines for FREE for many years redeeming tickets using KrisFlyer Miles and I can tell you that not once they rescheduled my flight! My experience with Singapore Airlines is that they always depart on time!

Only if I cannot get a Singapore Airlines Suite Class or First Class to a destination which Malaysia Airlines flies too, then I will book a Biz Class ticket with Malaysia Airlines to save time as I do not need to transit in Changi. Singapore Airlines Suite Class and First Class service is freaking excellent and we get to enter Private Room at Changi.
