Revisions to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Programme Effective 1st September 2025

Always read emails from your Frequent Flyer Program (FFP), e.g. Malaysia Airlines Enrich, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, Emirates Skywards and etc, as you may get some fantastic deals besides announcements.

In addition to emails from FFP, you must also check out KrisShop emails as very often they have really unbelievable offers, e.g. 50% off for Hennessy XO (few months ago there was a deal called Happy Hour) and close to 50% off for Hennessy Paradis (on 1st to 13th August 2025).

If you have been reading my articles, you will know that I purchase liquor from KrisShop everytime I fly with Singapore Airlines. Last month while flying back to Malaysia, my wife bought SK-II products which was on sale and she got further discount at the Check-Out.

This month, for my flight in September to Australia, I bought 2 bottles of Martell XO 1L and 2 bottles of Hennessy Paradis because it was selling at freaking unbelievable prices.

Changes to Earning Elite Miles Effective 1st September 2025

So I was super happy when I read KrisFlyer’s email stating:

EARN STATUS CREDITS BEYOND THE SKIES

From 1 September 2025 0000hrs (GMT+8), your everyday spend with the Singapore Airlines Group non-flight entities will count towards your KrisFlyer Elite tier status upgrade or status renewal.

As a KrisFlyer member, you will earn 1 Elite mile for every SGD1 spent when you shop and dine with Kris+ in Singapore and Australia1 (in Melbourne and Sydney), when you make purchases through KrisShop or book travel experiences with Pelago.

In respect to the above, at least now I will earn Elite Miles when I shop at KrisShop. And I must start checking out the offers at Kris+ when in Melbourne…. only dine at places where I can use Kris+, hahaha. However the Apple Pay that is link to my Kris+ only has AMEX because I can’t link my UOB Malaysia Credit Cards to Apple Pay, which means I will be earning less Air Miles when I use Kris+ in Singapore or Melbourne!

Whenever I am in Singapore, I will try to dine at restaurants that accepts Kris+ where I will earn KrisFlyer Miles. See attached image:

I have been flying with Emirates First Class, Singapore Airlines First & Biz Class, Malaysia Airlines Biz Class and other airlines First and Biz Class but I am at the lowest Tier for all my FFP because I do not purchase the First Class or Biz Class tickets but instead use air miles converted from my credit cards’ reward points, hahaha.

However I am flying with Singapore Airlines Economy Class next year in January because I can’t get a Biz Class Saver Option with Malaysia Airlines or Singapore Airlines KL to Brisbane. Therefore, having KrisFlyer Silver is good as I can board the plane earlier so that I am guaranteed a place for my hand carry on the overhead storage above my seat).

Recently I also showed you that we can get Scoot Saver Option to Melbourne in April (peak period as Easter Break) for 14K KrisFlyer Miles versus Singapore Airlines Economy Saver 30,500 KF Miles (but it will be inflated soon). I wonder if we can board the Scoot plane earlier if we have KrisFlyer Silver status.

INTRODUCTION OF ACCESS REDEMPTION

With Access redemption, you will have an added option to use your KrisFlyer miles to pay and secure confirmed Singapore Airlines flight tickets immediately on your preferred flights as long as there are available seats.

Seats available for Access redemption are over and above the seats available for award flights. With the new Access redemption option, you will be able to use your miles to secure available seats on your preferred flights even if award seats are fully redeemed.

This new Access redemption option will be available for miles payment from 1 November 2025 0000hrs (GMT +8)

Soon we will know is the Access Redemption is any good compared to the Saver Option at Award Chart.

REVISION TO KRISFLYER AWARD CHART REDEMPTION

Well, if you have been following me for years, you won’t be surprised that Singapore Airlines will once again inflate their KrisFlyer Miles. Like I have been telling all of you for years, (1) credit cards issuers inflate there reward redemption periodically and (2) FFP also inflate their redemption programs every few years and therefore soon (3) most of us will only be able to redeem Economy Class tickets and after that only with Scoot Budget Airline, hahaha.

But surprisingly, Singapore Airlines is reducing the KrisFlyer Miles required for flights on Economy Class within Asia and to Australia (Zone 9).

Members will benefit from a reduction of 5% in Economy Saver award redemption rates for flights within Asia and South West Pacific (Zones 1 to 9).

However, Business and Suites/First Saver award redemption rates for Zones 1 to 9 will increase by 5%.

The revised redemption rate will come into effect on 1st November 2025. Therefore you better go redeem your First Class and Business Class tickets soon. As for Economy, if you flying to Australia, you will need less KrisFlyer Miles come 1st November.

And since I am talking about emails, you must also check your credit card issuer’s emails. For example, I just received an email from Maybank where we can get up tp 50% off with Japan Airlines!
