Another Chinese New Year Red Packets Presentation by GenX @ http://www.GenXGenYGenZ.com
INTRODUCTION
Chinese New Year is just around the corner and as usual, I am pleased to present to you another of my annual ritual which is to share with you the Ang Pau or Ang Bao or Ang Pow packets I have collected from the banks. However, this year I was kind of lazy to drop by Affin Bank and Citibank to collect their red packets. I am flying off to Melbourne this weekend as my youngest daughter’s high school is starting next week.
Click here to read my article titled Ang Pow Lai at Ringgit Wise Fool where I posted photos of Chinese New Year 2011 red packets from banks. In this article, I mentioned that I finally understood why my uncles and aunties would want to give me money (i.e. Ang Pow) personally, as I now also find joy in sharing my wealth with my younger generations.
Click here to my article Dragon Ang Pow also published at Ringgit Wise Fool where I posted photos of Year of The Dragon Ang Bao from banks ( including Premier, Privilege and Priority Banking red packets ) and a very aggressive looking Dragon from Coach!
And in 2013, I was in Melbourne for Chinese New Year, as such I posted photos of 2013 Ang Pow at my facebook page instead, click here to see them.
In 2014, for the second time in my life, I celebrated Chinese New Year in Melbourne. Click here to see Chinese New Year 2014 Red Packets at Generations XYZ blogspot and see what I had for dinner on Chinese New Year Eve.
In 2015, I was in Melbourne again for Chinese New Year. However, without fail, once again I posted the And Pows I collected before I flew to Melbourne. Click here to see Chinese New Year 2015 Red Packets at Generations XYZ blogspot.
YEAR OF THE FIRE MONKEY ANG POW, ANG PAU AND ANG BOA LAI LAI LAI
ALLIANCE BANK ANG PAU – as usual, Alliance Bank red packets are nice and colorful.
ALLIANCE BANK PRIVILEGE BANKING ANG PAO – I tell you, I don’t even know who is my Alliance Bank Relationship Manager as they keep changing. So, when I dropped by my Alliance Bank Branch to collect their Ang Pows, the person I spoke to was new to me and she was damn kedekut and only gave me 2 “mini boxes” of their PB red packets.
Inside the “mini boxes” are 2 different designs of Ang Paus. And without fail, the quality of Alliance Bank red packets are very good.
AmBANK ANG KAU ANG PAU 2016 – the AmBank red packets were given to me by a relative. who works with them I don’t have any account with AmBank.
ANZ Bank Australia Year of the Monkey Ang Pau – freaking cool that Australia banks are issuing Chinese New Year Red Packets to their customers.
CIMB PRIVATE BANKING – this Ang Pau quality is really really good where it’s like made from silk. Hard to appreciate it from the images below:
DEUTSCHE BANK CHINESE NEW YEAR RED PACKET
HONG LEONG BANK AND HONG LEONG BANK PRIORITY BANKING RED PACKETS are similar in design except that the Priority Banking And Pows are slightly larger.
HONG LEONG INVESTMENT BANK
MAYBANK RED PACKETS 2016 – Paper quality good, design okay I suppose.
MAYBANK PREMIER WEALTH BANKING ANG PAU 2016 – the design is the same as the mass banking red packets BUT the paper quality is really good.
And my Maybank Premier Wealth Relationship Manager had so few Ang Paus allocated to her by HQ this year that she gave me some from previous years (I can’t confirm which year but definitely not 2015).
OCBC BANK ANG BAO – As always for the last few years, OCBC has been issuing 2 different designs of red packets to their customers. By having 2 different designs, one can easily differentiate the denominations inside them.
OCBC COMMERCIAL BANKING RED PACKETS
OCBC PREMIER BANKING ANG PAU 2016
RHB PREMIER BANKING Gong Xi Fa Cai Hong Pau – my RHB Premier Banking Relatioship Manager is generous as usual and I took 6 sets of Ang Paus and gave 2 of them to my dad.
UOB BANK 2016 ANG PAU – This year UOB Bank red packets are pinkish and there are monkeys everywhere, hahaha. It’s kind of hard to spot the monkeys in the photo which I took below.
UOB BANK PRIVILEGE BANKING ANG KAU ANG PAU 2016 – the UOB PB red packets have the same identical design as their non-PB ang pows. However, the monkeys are hologram (and as such easier to spot in the photo below). I kind of like UOB PB red hot red packets this year as they have incorporated monkeys which is most appropriate since this year is the Year of the Fire Monkey.
NON BANK RED PACKETS
Oriental Group of Restaurants Ang Pau – currently my favorite Chinese Restaurants are Noble Mansion at Plaza 33 (Oriental Group) and Grand Imperial at Sunway Pinnacle (Grand Imperial Group). I had dinner at both of these restaurants last week and only Oriental Group of Restaurants are giving out Red Packets.
Hennessy VSOP Privilege Red Packets – I was given this ang pows when I purchased 4 bottles of the Limited Edition Hennessy VSOP Privilege at AEON Supermarket Mid-Valley at a super low price of RM253 per bottle because I am an AEON Card Member.
Click here to my GenX Spirits blog to see my Special Edition Monkey Brandy, 750ml Orange Colored Limited Edition Hennessy VSOP Privilege and 1L Hennessy VSOP Privilege bought at Eraman KLIA2 for RM266 (without taking into consideration the 15% discount I get with my FREE FOR LIFE no conditions whatsoever CIMB World MasterCard).
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR 2016 – MAY YOU BE BLESSED WITH GOOD FORTUNE, ABUNDANT WEALTH AND MORE IMPORTANTLY PERPETUAL HAPPINESS AND GOOD HEALTH. HUAT AH!
