AFFINBANK BHPetrol “Touch & Fuel” Mastercard Credit Card – For Petrol Only

Annual Income Requirement: RM24K
Annual Fee: First year waived. Second and subsequent years RM150 and RM75 for Principal and Supplementary respectively but waived with spending of RM24K or minimum 12 swipes per year.

What is good about this card?
- 2% cash back on weekdays charged at BHPetrol stations in Malaysia.
- 10% cash back on weekends charged at BHPetrol stations in Malaysia.
- The cash back is capped at RM50 per month and will be credited into the principal Cardmember’s Card.
10% cash back for petrol!
Which other credit card gives you guaranteed effective 10% cash back for petrol? The answer is none!
With 10% cash back and the monthly cash back capped at RM50, it means this card is good up to RM500 spending for petrol at BHPetrol stations.
What are the cons of this card?
However, the cons of AFFINBANK BHPetrol “Touch & Fuel” Mastercard are:
- You only get cash back at BHPetrol stations.
- Earn 1 AFFIN Rewards Point for every RM1 retail transaction spent at other retailers which makes it pretty useless.

As you can observe from above, in order to earn RM50 cash voucher, you need to spend RM30,650 with the Affin Bank BHPetrol MasterCard at other retailers. This works out to 0.163% equivalent cash back, NOT EVEN CLOSE TO 1%!!!
Conclusion
The AFFINBANK BHPetrol “Touch & Fuel” Mastercard is only good for pumping petrol at BHPetrol stations and nothing else. Assuming you can pump RM500 a month, this means you will earn a total of RM600 per year (not including SST).
Once again, in order for the annual fee to be waived you need to spend RM24K per year or swipe minimum 12 times per year.
If you are really going to get this card, forget about the Supp Card. Just use your Principal card when you pump your partner’s car.
With cash back capped at RM50 per month, this means you can earn up to RM600 per year with RM6,000 spending.
