Effective 20th December 2025 until 31st December 2025, if you use UNIRinggit to pay a credit card transaction via the TMRW App, you will get 50% rebate on the points.
Below statement is from UOB Website where I simply copied it and pasted it:
If you offset a purchase of RM100 with 80,000 UNIRinggit via Pay with UNIRinggit, RM100 will be credited to your credit card the next business day while 40,000 UNIRinggit (50%) will be credited within 8 weeks after the campaign concludes.
Basically what you should know are:
- 800 UNIRinggit is equivalent to RM1 when you utilize Pay With UNIRinggit;
- For the 50% UNIRinggit Rebate, one needs to utilize minimum 80K UNIRinggit which is equivalent to minimum RM100 transaction with one’s credit card.
So without the 50% Rebate for Pay With UNIRinggit promo and for transaction where we earn 1X UNIRinggit for every RM1 spent, it means we are getting equivalent cash back of 0.125%!!! So if we were to consider the 50% Discount, it is still freaking low at 0.25%!!!
If you have been reading my articles, you will immediately understand that Pay With UNIRinggit may only be good for UOB Visa Infinite(s) where we can earn 10X UNIRInggit with every RM1 spent overseas.
In respect to the above, below are the steps to determine the equivalent cash back for UOB card where we can earn 10X UNIRinggit for every RM1 spent overseas:
a. Normally we need 80K UNIRinggit to pay for a transaction amounting to RM100 charged to our UOB Credit Card.
b. With the 50% rebate, what it means is that effectively we only need 40K UNIRinggit to offset a RM100 transaction.
c. In order to earn 40K UNIRinggit, we need to spend RM4K overseas with the UOB Visa Infinite or UOB PRVI Miles Elite.
d. With the above, what it means is we will get equivalent cash back of 2.5% (RM100/RM4,000).
Well 2.5% cash back from overseas transaction is neither good nor bad! If you are a long time die hard follower of mine, you will know that Alliance, Maybank and UOB impose a pretty high overseas admin/forex fee when we use their Visa Infinite; therefore we will end up earning nothing. Without the 50% Rebate, it is even worst!
Air Miles versus UNIRinggit 50% Rebate
For the purpose of comparing redeeming air miles versus utilizing UNIRM for Pay With UNIRinggit 50% Rebate, I will only consider UOB Visa Infinite (Non Privilege Banking) and UOB PRVI Miles Elite where both their Redemption Rate is 12K UNIRinggit = 1K Asia Miles or Enrich or KrisFlyer.
1, Above I have shown you that with RM4K spending overseas with an UOB credit card that earns us 10X UNIRinggit, we need effectively 40K UNIRinggit to pay for a credit card transaction amounting to RM100.
On the other hand 40K UNIRinggit is also like earning 3.33K Air Miles based on conversion rate of 12K UNIRinggit = 1K Air Miles.
Assuming 1 Air Mile is worth RM0.03 when we redeem for an Economy Class ticket, it means we are getting a value of RM99.99 (3.33K Air Miles x RM0.03/Air Mile) – which is exactly the same value of RM100 mentioned above where we utilize the 50% Rebate Promo!
So if you are a die hard long time follower of mine, you would know that I recommend that we use our air miles earned from our credit cards transactions to redeem for Business Class tickets and never Economy (but today we can consider Scoot Economy where we need less KrisFlyer Miles).
So assuming we can get a value of minimum RM0.05 per Air Mile when we redeem for a Business Class ticket, the 3,333 Air Miles which we redeemed with 40K UNIRinggit is worth RM166.65! What this means is we get 66% more in value compared to (1) redeeming for Economy Class or (2) utilizing the 50% Rebate Promo!!!
Malaysia Airlines Enrich Points Promo
As mentioned again in my recent article titled The Best Credit Card in Malaysia 2026, we need ridiculous number of Enrich Points during Peak Period to redeem a ticket regardless Economy or Business Class.
However, during off peak and sale, we may need very little Enrich Points to redeem an Economy Class ticket. Below is an example for Malaysia Airlines KL/Shanghai in end January 2026:
From the above image, a return Economy Class ticket KL/Shanghai cost only RM1,048 or alternatively we can use 20,600 Enrich Points plus pay RM247 for taxes.
From the above paragraph, I can also say 20,600 Enrich Points is equivalent to RM801 (RM1048-RM247) which means 1 Enrich Point is worth RM0.038 (which is higher than RM0.03 because for this example I chose the lowest redemption rate called Economy Value which is lower than Enrich Saver 19,600 EP which will make the value of 1 EP less than RM0.023!!!).
The above paragraph is to show you that 1 Enrich Point can be worth more than RM0.03 when redeeming for Economy Class ticket when there is a promo during off peak, thus better than using Pay With UNIRinggit 50% rebate!
Seriously, for RM1K return KL/Shanghai is damn cheap and my disciples and I will never use our air miles to redeem this said damn cheap Economy Class ticket but instead pay with cash and use our Air Miles for another day to redeem Business Class ticket where we will earn much more in returns.
CONCLUSION
Without the 50% rebate with Pay With UNIRinggit, i.e. 800 UNIRM = RM1, it is not worthwhile to use our UNIRinggit to pay our credit card transaction(s) as we getting at most 1.25% returns from transactions we can earn 10X UNIRM.
The UOB Pay With UNIRinggit 50% Rebate is STILL NOT worthwhile even if we earn 10X UNIRinggit because the value we get is lower compared to using the same number of UNIRinggit to redeem for air miles for Business Class tickets.
And only a fool who earns 1X UNIRM for every RM1 spent will use their UNIRMs to pay for his/her credit card transaction(s), hahahaha.
On the other hand, some people do earn FREE UNIRinggit from certain bank’s products and I guess if they do not know that air miles are better, then they will definitely be freaking happy with the 50% discount promo.
As I mentioned in my article titled The Best Credit Cards in 2026, if one spends less than RM3K per month, he/she should concentrate on Cash Back Credit Cards to earn more in returns. Having said this, when playing Cash Back Credit Cards, one must have discipline to deposit the cash back they have earned into a separate account and never touch it so that he/she can actually see and fell the cold hard cash, Those who use Excel to record how much they have earned from Cash Back are just kidding themselves because end of the day the money most probably is not there but just some useless records which will make no difference to one’s life.
