INTRODUCTION

It is time again for me to produce my annual Best Top Credit Cards in Malaysia comprehensive review. If you are a long time die hard follower of mine, you will noticed that I have changed the format of my annual credit cards review throughout the years because everyone has different annual income, spending pattern, wants at different stages of their lives and today many credit cards have different categories to earn you air miles or cash back plus monthly capping too.

For example, those of you who started to follow me more than 10 years ago may only qualify for the Maybank 2 Cards Gold BUT today you may be holding several credit cards (Super Premium, Premier, Platinum and Cash Back) in order to optimize because of my brainwashing, hahaha.

As most of you know, all credit card issuers will revise their credit cards’ benefits periodically and once in a blue moon would even launch a new credit card with fantastic benefits to entice new sign up.

Holding a credit card is a LIABILITY! Firstly, it will entice you to spend more. Secondly, the Credit Limit assigned to you itself may cause you sleepless nights if the card issuer holds you responsible for fraudulent transactions! Having said this, credit cards are fantastic to earn you FREE Money, FREE Air Miles and FREE Access to Airport Lounges IF and ONLY IF you settle in full the Statement Balance prior to the Due Date and therefore not paying a sen in interest charges.

In my Best Credit Card 2025 article, I mentioned that credit card users can basically be identified as a Cash Back Fan or Air Miles Fan or BOTH in order to optimize. I tell you, only those who are lazy to do research will use their credit cards’ reward points to redeem for stuff (e.g. electrical item) or even cash vouchers!

In respect to the above, if you are using your credit cards’ reward points to redeem for cash vouchers, you should seriously consider cash back credit cards to earn much more in returns!

Another thing is that I won’t be reviewing Super Premium Credit Cards just like in 2025; because not many people qualify for them. Super Premium Credit Cards are those where the annual income requirement is minimum RM200K and offer minimum 12X Airport Lounge access worldwide. Having said this, if your annual income is more than RM300K p.a., do some research and you will enjoy FREE Airport Lounge worldwide including bringing in more than a guest for FREE and even FREE Limo Pick Up worldwide AND the most important thing of all, Super Premium credit cards will earn you air miles faster than Premier credit cards (annual income requirement less than RM180K).

Holding a Premier Credit Card (minimum annual income RM80K) may not necessarily earn you more in returns compared to an Entry Level Credit Card (minimum annual income RM24K)! Click here to read my article Premier Credit Cards Versus Entry Level Credit Cards – Which Are Better?

I would like to reiterate what I mentioned in 2025:

The most important thing of owning a Credit Card is that you must never cancel a FREE FOR LIFE credit card! Always hold a FREE FOR LIFE Credit Card with a specific bank because you never know, they may launch a new credit card with fantastic features and because you are an existing cardholder with the same issuer/bank, you may be issued the new credit card despite you not having any income as the new credit card COMBINED Credit Limit is shared with your existing card and therefore there is no extra liability to the bank or you!

In respect to the above paragraph, once again, please also note that Credit Limit is a liability. If you are not using your FREE FOR LIFE credit card and have a high Credit Limit, you should reduce it to an amount whereby you can sleep soundly in the event the card is used fraudulently.

For example:

  1. If your FREE FOR LIFE credit card has a Credit Limit of RM88K but you never use it, then you should reduce the Credit Limit to RM30K.
  2. On the other hand, if you cannot sleep soundly when the card issuer holds you responsible for unauthorized transactions amounting to RM20K, then you should reduce the credit limit to RM5K!
  3. If losing RM5K will cause you stress, I guess you should not use any credit cards because like I said credit cards are a liability. Instead you can opt for Prepaid Cards like Big Pay Visa or TnG Visa where you can transfer via Online Banking the amount you need to the eWallet to control the damage to your pocket. Then use the Visa Prepaid card for transactions here and there including online.

Here is the Good News for non-Maybank Cards – we can suka-suka Feeze and Unfreeze our Debit Cards and Credit Cards from Alliance, CIMB, Hong Leong Bank, RHB and UOB, By you Freezing your Credit Card, the probability of your Frozen Credit Card’s 16 digit numbers being used fraudulently is reduced significantly to close to 0.88%. (not totally fraud free because one of My Air Miles Disciple told me his credit card was blocked but still someone managed to transact with it).

And the most important thing of all, in order for a Credit Card to be classified as a Best Credit Card in this article, it has to be FREE FOR LIFE! FREE is the Best! The only exception is the Maybank Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer AMEX Platinum where I will tell you why this card is freaking good later on.
