The Best Credit Cards To Earn Malaysia Airlines Enrich Points Plus Bonus July 2025 – A Comprehensive Tutorial

Another quality and comprehensive tutorial by www.GenXGenYGenZ.com

Updated with Addendum on Alliance Bank Credit Card Annual Fee Waiver at Page 5 and Summary Table at Conclusion

Introduction

If you have been following me for years, you will know that I have reiterated over and over again that KrisFlyer Miles are more superior compared to Enrich Points because (1) for roughly the same air miles we can fly First Class with Singapore Airlines whereas Malaysia Airlines does not have First Class and (2) Singapore Airlines flies to more destinations.

However, because of a new development at Malaysia Airlines’ Enrich Account, I will now say that Enrich Points are good! I will touch on this at Page 3 of this tutorial.

In view of the new development mentioned above, I thought it is time that I present to you a comprehensive tutorial on how to optimize earning Enrich Points. YES, optimizing not maximizing. Most of you know that I am an Engineer; thus my training is to optimize our limited resources (our spending) to get the best outcome (to use which credit card) to serve humanity (you guys, haha).

If You Are New To This Blog, You Must First Educate Yourself On Credit Cards Pros & Cons

Before I proceed with this tutorial, if you are new to my blog, please read my Prelude to The Best Credit Cards in Malaysia as it will tell you the pros & cons of owing a credit card.

Also if you are new to my blog, please click here to read my tutorial titled GenX’s Credit Card Tutorial 2020 – CC 101. Don’t let the year 2020 fool you, this tutorial is very comprehensive and also teaches you that if anyone tells you that AMEX is no good, that person is a fool, hahaha.

Spending/Expenses To Optimize Earning Air Miles

Monthly Expenses Below RM3K

Generally, if your expenses are below RM3K per month (excluding rental and/or loans) where you can use credit cards to pay, I would think it would be more beneficial that you play Cash Back credit cards instead of Air Miles. Why? With you owning the right cash back credit cards, you can easily earn up to RM150 per month or RM1.8K per year.

Click here to read my article titled The Best Credit Cards for Petrol 2025. This article is not only about earning Cash Back from Petrol but also for transactions related to Groceries, Shopping on weekends including at Lazada/Shopee and etc. And at the conclusion of this said article, I mentioned that you must also hold the Maybank Islamic Ikhwan American Express Platinum Card-i (mentioned in Page 3 of my article titled The Best Credit Cards in MAlaysia 2025) which earns you 8% cash back EVERYDAY for Online Transactions which include Agoda, Shopee, Lazada, Grab Rides and Grab Food. Cash Back capped at RM50 per month and for 2 months in a year capped at RM100!

Monthly Expenses Above RM5K

If you are earning more than RM100K per year and your monthly expenses (excluding loans, rental, money to parent, childcare centres and etc that do not accept credit cards) are more than RM5K, then it makes sense to play air miles by holding the right credit cards to pay for the transactions.

How To Determine If A Credit Card Is Good For Air Miles

If you have learned anything from my articles is that we can easily earn 5% cash back for Petrol, Groceries, Grab Rides, Grab Food, Movies, Lazada, Shopee and etc. Therefore, when we chose a credit card that earns us air miles, we try to get as close as 5% cash back equivalent in returns.

For example, we can get 8% cash back for Petrol or 5% Cash Back for Grab Rides. Why are you using a credit card that earns you 1 air mile (which may worth anything from 3 sen to 10 sen depending on what ticket class you are redeeming) for every RM10 spent on these said transactions and earning less in returns?

Say 1 KrisFlyer Mile is worth RM0.10 and RM0.05 when you redeem for a First Class and Biz Class tickets respectively with Saver Option; and your credit card earns you 1 KrisFlyer Mile for every RM2.50 spent. This means your returns are 4% and 2% respectively. (I guess those of you holding a Maybank KrisFlyer Platinum AMEX must be thinking of switching your petrol transactions to cash back credit cards, haha).

Having said the above, I have taught many that they must have a specific Savings Account or Fixed Deposit Account where they must have the disciple to credit the cash back earned into it and get to see/feel the cash back ELSE one is just wasting time playing cash back credit cards as it won’t make any difference to the person’s life!

On the other hand, say you earn 1 Enrich Point or 1 KrisFlyer Mile for every RM1 spent; and each air mile is worth RM0.05 when you redeem for a Business Saver ticket. What this means is that you are getting 5% returns which is as good as Cash Back Credit Cards!

KrisFlyer Miles versus Enrich Points

For years I have been reiterating that KrisFLyer Miles are better and therefore many of you, my long time die hard followers, would be holding Cash Back Credit Cards plus the Maybank Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Platinum AMEX today plus UOB Visa Infinite for Overseas Spending to optimize. One of the best method to increase the value of your KrisFlyer Miles is to redeem for Spontaneous Escape where Singapore Airlines have monthly deals which are really really fantastic.

However, many people prefer Enrich Points and not wanting to experience Singapore Airlines Suite Class for whatever reasons known to them. But because of the “new” development at Enrich, it makes sense to collect Enrich Points today.

So the purpose of this article is to educate you on what credit cards you should be holding based on your spending pattern to earn Enrich Points. However, in order to earn reasonable Enrich Points from a particular transaction, we need Premier Credit Cards where the minimum annual income requirement is RM100K.

And then there are Super Premier Credit Cards that actually earn you more Air Miles quicker but these cards, the annual income requirement is close or more than RM200K p.a. Therefore I will exclude Super Premier Credit Cards in my evaluation in this tutorial.
