INTRODUCTION

If you are a longtime follower of mine, most probably you would have hold the Maybank 2 Cards Premier AMEX Reserve and Visa Infinite up to 2 years ago before Maybank revised the card benefits and inflated their Air Miles Redemption program.

So since 2024, I have been teaching all my readers to terminate the kind of mediocre Maybanks 2 Cards Premier to:

1. Maybank Mercedes Benz Visa Infinite. Why? Because it comes with 2 years FREE annual fee.
2. Sign up for UOB Visa Infinite is you have substantial overseas spending.

Revision to Maybank 2 Cards Premier Visa Infinite and Reserve American Express Effective 1st June 2026

Well last week one of My Air Miles Disciple forwarded to me a link from Maybank, and it was about Maybank finally came to their senses that they made a horrible mistake when they downgraded the benefits of their Reserve AMEX back in December 2024. And how they came to their senses? I can only speculate that it was my doing where I told everyone how stupid they are if they were holding the Maybank 2 Cards Premier in my many previous articles, hahahaha.

Anyway, effective 1st June 2026, Maybank have announced that they are revising the benefits of their Maybank 2 Cards Reserve AMEX as follows:

If you are a lonf time follower of mine, you will also know that 5X or 10X means nothing. We have to always determine how much we need to spend to earn 1 Air Miles, which means we also need to consider the redemption rate.

So, for Maybank 2 Cards Premier Cardsand even Diamante, we need 12,500 Treats Points to redeem for 1 Enrich Points or KrisFlyer Miles or Asia Miles.

Therefore with the above conversion rate of 1`2,500 Treats Points to 1000 Air Miles, we can now work out how much we need to spend to earn 1 Air Mile.

For Overseas 10X TP with the Reserve AMEX, we will earn 1 Air Mile for every RM1.25 spent overseas.

For Dining 5x TP, it means we will earn 1 Air Mile for every RM2.50 spent LOCALLY.

For Local Spending 3X TP, it means we will earn 1 Air Mile for every RM4.167 spent.

NOW, please take note above only applies to the Maybank 2 Cards Premier RESERVE AMEX only! You will still earn mediocre return with the Visa Infinite and Diamante Visa Infinite!!! (Please note I am referring to Malaysia Diamante and not Singapore issued Diamante where they have a metal card version too).

Overseas Transactions

The above mentioned 10X TP for overseas transactions is pretty good if you have substantial overseas transactions. HOWEVER, if you are a long time follower of mine and you have substantial overseas transactions, you would have taken my instruction and have gotten yourself the UOB Visa Infinite or UOV PRVI Elite Miles where both theses said cards earn you 1 air mile for every RM1.20 spent overseas. And if you have UOB Privilege Banking Visa Infinite you would be earning 1 air mile for every RM1 spent overseas.

And seriously, the UOB Visa Infinite is welcome in most places overseas compared to AMEX! In Malaysia the AMEX is good because it is welcome at many places especially those that have Maybank terminals for transactions.

Local Dining Transactions

As for Local Dining, it you do spend above RM1K per calendar month on food, the UOB Visa Infinite is still way better.

Local Transactions

As for Local Transactions 3X TP, well it is kind of bad!!! Seriously, the Maybank Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer American Express® Platinum Credit Card (click here to read it) is way better!!!

CONCLUSION

The revision effective 1st June 2026 shown/mentioned above only applies to the Reserve AMEX!!! What this means is Maybank so far has yet to make the Diamante and their many versions of Visa Infinite any better.

And if you do not have substantial overseas expenses/transactions, the 10X TP is useless to you. Moreover the UOB VIsa Infinite (there are 3 versions for Malaysia) is still better than the Maybank Reserve AMEX even with the revision!

And I have shown you the joke for Local Spending, the Maybank KrisFlyer AMEX Platinum is better than any Maybank Premier credit cards!!!

Another important thing to note, one needs to spend minimum RM80K with the Maybank 2 Cards Premier to have the RM800 annual fee waived, no exception. On the other hand, one only needs to spend RM50K with the UOB Visa Infinite. The UOB Privilege Banking Visa Infinite is totally FREE FOR LIFE (but UOB suka-suka have been changing their annual fees TnC over the years).
